When Southampton\u2019s <strong>Our Hollow, Our Home<\/strong> introduced themselves with<em> &#8216;Hartsick&#8217;<\/em> last year, it was clear they had something about them that stood out from the pack. Now 18 months on, they&#8217;ve return with a second full-length &#8211;<em> &#8216;In Moment \/\/ In Memory&#8217;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Although they stylistically don\u2019t reinvent the wheel, <strong>OHOH<\/strong>\u00a0have a tendency to pull you in over the course of 46 minutes. This is mainly due to the lyrical weight that threads the album together. In short, it follows the five stages of grief that guitarist\/vocalist\u00a0Tobias Young experienced following the death of his father due to cancer; denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance.<\/p>\n<p>From his world\u00a0crashing down (<em>&#8216;In Moment&#8217;<\/em>) to wishing to have them back (<em>&#8216;Speak of Sorrow&#8217;<\/em>) to finding comfort on album highlight <em>&#8216;Parting Gift&#8217;,\u00a0<\/em>Young and company paint a detailed narrative that is well executed.\u00a0The final trio of<em>\u00a0&#8216;Father &amp; Ghost&#8217;,<\/em> the aforementioned <em>&#8216;Parting Gift&#8217;<\/em> and<em> &#8216;In Memory&#8217;<\/em> are especially noteworthy, as they are carried with cathartic fulfilment.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Our Hollow, Our Home -  Speak Of Sorrow\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/K5d2LuK2irA?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>As for the band&#8217;s sound, they tick all the tropes of what to expect from a\u00a0metalcore band. Throughout Connor Hallisey&#8217;s screams and growls are vicious\u00a0yet complement Young&#8217;s clean, melodic hooks. While\u00a0 Josh White supplies a host of visceral riffs alongside Nick Taliadoros&#8217; thick drum work and Bobby Brooks&#8217; dense bass lines. Collectively, <strong>OHOH<\/strong> are a raw, monstrous unit that constantly delivers.<em> &#8216;Love Loss&#8217;<\/em> has anthemic tendencies with its gang vocals. Whereas songs such as\u00a0<em>&#8216;Wraiths&#8217;<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>&#8216;Divisions&#8217;<\/em>\u00a0are razor-sharp blasts and<em> &#8216;Weight &amp; Carriage&#8217;<\/em> serves as a towering onslaught of bitter angst.<\/p>\n<p>Overall the muscular weight, both musically and lyrically, makes<em> &#8216;In Moment \/\/ In Memory&#8217;<\/em> a second successful outing for <strong>Our Hollow, Our Home<\/strong>.
