From the beginning, their energy and vigour shine through; singles<em> \u2018Don\u2019t Mind\u2019<\/em> \u2013 a dynamic rock anthem with a radio-friendly quality \u2013 and <em>\u2018Hollow Moon\u2019<\/em> \u2013 in which lyrics relating to prostitution are put alongside a buoyant instrumental \u2013 set the tone for the rest of the album well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arlington<\/strong>&#8216;s sound is undoubtedly accessible, with a solid understanding of what makes the most popular garage-rock bands so highly regarded. Their more blues-influenced tracks are often their best;<em> \u2018Damn Shame\u2019<\/em> and <em>\u2018Native Tongue\u2019<\/em> are two of the standout tracks with their catchy riffs and forceful vocals, while <em>\u2018Ride Out\u2019<\/em> instantly recalls The Black Keys with its bluesy bass.<\/p>\n<p>When the trio reins things in, frontman Tyler Benko\u2019s lovelorn vocals take centre stage. On powerful rock ballad <em>&#8216;Motion&#8217;<\/em>, he croons <em>\u201cGive me some motion\/and I\u2019m satisfied\u201d<\/em> over a warm beat, with convincing emotion. <em>\u2018Halo\u2019<\/em> is much the same, allowing the Southern Californian band a chance to regroup between two later energetic numbers, <em>\u2018Better Men Than Me\u2019<\/em> and <em>\u2018Children\u2019<\/em>. The former has a driving rhythm, supporting the quiet-verse\/loud-chorus structure. Likewise,<em> &#8216;Children&#8217;<\/em> is one of the heavier songs on the album, soaked with a bluesy guitar solo.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Arlington - Hollow Moon (Official Music Video)\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NIeuCMsaBEA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>They only really falter when they attempt more experimentation. On <em>\u2018Mud\u2019,<\/em> the band veer into stoner-rock territory and although they deserve commendation for being adventurous, it\u2019s ultimately not as effective as when they stick to straightforward rock.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Arlington<\/strong> have the sort of contagious sound that, although not revolutionary, will appeal to those who they collectively carry as influences on their sleeves.
