However, they would probably suggest you start off with <i>&#8216;Blackout Cowboy&#8217;<\/i>. Released today, it sees the quintet display their admiration for US college radio albeit with a British alt-rock core and an off-kilter edge. Over the course of its eight songs, the ludicrously named band neatly execute a snappy set of songs. For example, <i>&#8216;Running From My Ghost&#8217;<\/i> and <i>&#8216;Mrs JR Hartley&#8217;<\/i> both provide a fuzzy indie-rock rush. Whereas &#8216;Mind Control&#8217; and the title track highlight their quirky side.<\/p>\n<p>Having written such an extensive back catalogue of songs, you&#8217;d expect <b>Sunshine Frisbee Laserbeam<\/b>&#8216;s influences to be far and wide. So with <i>&#8216;Blackout Cowboy&#8217;<\/i> now out in the open, it made sense to see who they consider their musical inspirations. Dara&#8217;s charisma onstage is scary, his snarling vocal sound matches the industrial post-punk perfectly.<\/p>\n<h2>Big Thief &#8211; Real Love<\/h2>\n<p>Adrianne Lenker is such a great songwriter but the beauty in her voice matched with the unusual timing of Buck Meeks guitar playing really makes them something special.<\/p>\n<h2>Parquet Courts &#8211; Berlin Got Blurry<\/h2>\n<p>I think it&#8217;s the prolific output that makes Parquet Courts so impressive. That and the fact they seem to get more confident with each record. I like how the two front men have different vocal styles but seem to go so well together.<\/p>\n<h2>Hot Snakes &#8211; Audit in Progress<\/h2>\n<p>Anyone who has seen a Hot Snakes live performance will know how impressive they are. It&#8217;s inspiring to watch how tight they play on stage, we all recently went to see them at Brudenell Social Club, has to be in the top 5 live shows I&#8217;ve ever seen.<\/p>\n<h2>Naomi Punk &#8211; The Feeling<\/h2>\n<p>Another band to see live. I don&#8217;t know anyone that sounds like Naomi Punk so it&#8217;s hard to describe them. It&#8217;s the experimental take on recording and the use of lo-fi samples both live &amp; on record that I love about them.<\/p>\n<h2>Busdriver &#8211; Worlds to Run ft Milo, Anderson Paak<\/h2>\n<p>Some of the most beautiful production by Kenny Segal, from the guitar samples to the beats flowing throughout.
