Defiantly heartfelt lyrical content conveyed by frontman Beau Bokan\u2019s versatile chops emerges triumphant, combined with the artistry of a band maturing and perfecting itself with every passing moment. As always, the Phoenix outfit rise from the ashes of metalcore and rejuvenate an otherwise stale genre. <!-- more --><\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cWell I hope you\u2019re good at starting over,\u201d<\/i> calls out the echoing opener <i>\u2018Decayer,\u2019<\/i> gradually developing into a contagious metalcore anthem befitting their status as the mainstays of the realm. Racy and intense, lead single <i>\u2018Walk On Water\u2019<\/i> projects Beau\u2019s versatility, pitting livid growls against melodic cleans with consummate mastery.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cYou won\u2019t find me there cos I\u2019m already gone, looking for what\u2019s left to hang on, where did we go wrong?\u201d<\/i> agonises the flawlessly melodic <i>\u2018Dead Air,\u2019<\/i> determined to don a brave face beyond its crushing heartbreak behind its eyes. In contrast, <i>\u2018Up In Flames\u2019<\/i> projects venomous finger-pointing, backbiting, <i>\u201cDon\u2019t drag me through your nightmare.\u201d<\/i>\n<\/p>\n<p>The unadulterated vitriol poured into Beau\u2019s screams throughout <i>\u2018Against the Waves\u2019<\/i> threatens to drag you down under the relentless current, while <i>\u2018Looking Down from the Edge\u2019<\/i> proves a contagious anthem to balancing on the brink. A disappointment, however, comes in the form of this album highlight\u2019s successor, <i>\u2018Keep What We Love &amp; Burn the Rest,\u2019<\/i> whose over-generous fragmented production lets the side down.<\/p>\n<p>Armageddon runs passionately through the veins of <i>\u2018Condition Comatose,\u2019<\/i> spilling over with biological regret to a beautifully reflective melody. <i>\u201cYou call this love? I call it blind ambition,\u201d<\/i> quips the stubborn <i>\u2018Oathbreaker,\u2019<\/i> determined and delivered with precise conviction, while <i>\u2018To Those Left Behind\u2019<\/i> parades itself as a vicious call to arms well worth its weight in gold.<\/p>\n<p>Frontrunners of their trade, <b>blessthefall<\/b> consistently pit their talents against the trends and fashions, creating an incomparable showcase of integrity and longevity.
