Since forming in 2013, Nottingham pop-rockers Adelphia<\/b> have gradually been building a tight-knit following whilst perfecting their sound. They recently returned with a new single called ‘Better Off’<\/i>, a plucky, infectious number that gives the five-piece plenty of potential.<\/p>\n

Now they’ve got a full line-up, Adelphia<\/b> are ready to add to an already impressive CV which includes an appearance at the Hit The Deck Festival, airplay on various notable radio and TV stations as well as shows with Breathe In The Silence, Pavilions and dirt.<\/p>\n

Before things start to get inevitably busy for the quintet, we asked them to tell us what has influenced and shaped them along the way.<\/p>\n

A band that has influenced us:<\/b>
\nWe are most influenced by Don Broco<\/b>, because they have a great sound and gave us a lot of great advice. We love that they combine funk, disco and rock all together with massive hooks. It makes them really stand out and makes them a unique outfit! They gave us a lot of advice at the Red Bull Studios about looking after our vocals and which bits to focus on when writing, including different methods of writing when on the road.<\/p>\n

A musician that has influenced us:<\/b>
Travis Barker<\/b>, he was the first musician that made our drummer, Rik, want to play, want to be in a band and want to venture into music. He’s been a massive inspiration to a lot of drummers and musicians alike, purely because he gives his all and creates such original ideas with a lot of drive. ‘First Date’<\/i> by Blink-182<\/b> was one of the songs that inspired our drummer to write music and gave him the passion to play drums.<\/p>\n

A song that has influenced us:<\/b>
‘Here We Go’<\/i> by Lower Than Atlantis<\/b>. When we heard this song, it inspired us to write more riff-based music and pushed us to create the kind of music that we all actually enjoy performing, as well as writing. They’re a really interesting band in terms of their structuring, with the little hooks and signature sections that they incorporate into their songs.<\/p>\n

A musical event that influenced us:<\/b>
Glastonbury<\/b> was a massive inspiration and an eye opener to us in regards to world music: how many variations of the same thing there are worldwide, but tweaked. Traveling helps you realise that America has a great variation of sound broadcasted on their radio stations in comparison to English mainstream broadcasting.<\/p>\n

An album that influenced us: <\/b>
\nWe took a lot of inspiration from You Me At Six<\/b>’s album ‘Sinners Never Sleep’<\/i>. This album set a bar for us when we started the band, in terms of sound quality and the direction that we wanted to take, hence why we worked with Matt O’Grady. He’s done a great job with helping us to develop and make us sound better. That album was referenced a lot during our early writing stages, but our sound has developed a lot more and our tastes have become more varied.<\/p>\n
