\"\"<\/strong>One of the UK’s most interesting young bands, Black Coast<\/strong>, have released their follow up to last year’s\u00a0‘Ill Minds Vol 1<\/em>‘. Although volume one played it safe, rarely deviating from the quintet’s generic hardcore sound.\u00a0‘Ill Minds Vol 2′ <\/em>\u00a0is a more creative affair. It throws caution to the wind and sees Black Coast<\/strong> reveal their ambitious side.<\/p>\n

The clear opener, \u2018Act II<\/em>\u2019 is a frenzied track with undeniable energy. Frontman Charlie Hewitt delivers lyrics with feisty anger while his bandmates carve out technical guitar riffs. When taken at face value, \u2018Act II\u2019<\/em> \u2013 and, in fact, all of \u2018Ill Minds Vol. 2<\/em>\u2019 \u2013 can seem like nothing new. Although it’s a brief insight into the inner workings of Black Coast<\/strong>, yet if you listen closely and you\u2019ll hear melodic guitar licks, complex drum patterns, and perfect production which keep things interesting.<\/p>\n

The ominous interlude, \u2018Solace<\/em>\u2019 provides a gentle moment of calm before ‘Diablo’ steamrolls its way in. With chugging guitars and Hewitt’s screams, it’s a visceral slice of metallic hardcore that is relentless in its execution.<\/p>\n
