A small, but devoted following kept up hope that new music would surface soon.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8216;Drug Phase&#8217;<\/em> answers those prayers with a six-track offering full of intent, the group, for want of a less clich\u00e9d expression, sounding like they never left. The incisive urgency of\u00a0<em>&#8216;Impressive Depressive&#8217;<\/em> is striking and calculating, Dominick cutting through electric riffs and sounding like a youthful Adam Lazzara with just a tinge of the older Adam Lazzara&#8217;s rough edges.<\/p>\n<p>Taking Back Sunday remain a useful reference point, but <em>&#8216;<\/em><em>Mean Dudes&#8217; <\/em>doesn&#8217;t merely evoke the spirit of <strong>Bad Luck.<\/strong>&#8216;s\u00a0fellow Long Islanders, it is a joy, with a smart melody and deceivingly simple hook, while\u00a0<em>&#8216;Sheep Song&#8217;<\/em>&#8216;s restraint and handclaps make for an infectious lament of absent serotonin.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Spotify Embed: Drug Phase\" style=\"border-radius: 12px\" width=\"100%\" height=\"352\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/album\/38Y1kTERcC4NsEIVfPYmKJ?si=Pg4H5rhPRUiARKHvZY4zqA&#038;utm_source=oembed\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>That <em>&#8216;Wish<\/em>\u00a0<em>We Still Talked&#8217;<\/em> is firmly the longest track at 3:33 is symptomatic of the kind of no-fuss manner\u00a0<em>&#8216;Drug Phase&#8217;<\/em> is delivered in, but it never feels rushed. The track itself might just be the strongest of all, utilising momentary silence well and displaying a strong sense of dynamics, while still being a straight-up pop-punk banger.<\/p>\n<p>The credibility of\u00a0<strong>Bad Luck.<\/strong>&#8216;s return is such that when they include a token acoustic ballad in <em>&#8216;P.S. Wiffle Ball&#8217;<\/em>, again it is with genuine quality and assuredness.
