{"id":78954,"date":"2019-05-14T13:00:06","date_gmt":"2019-05-14T12:00:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/?p=78954"},"modified":"2019-05-11T14:04:48","modified_gmt":"2019-05-11T13:04:48","slug":"playlist-blood-commands-essential-norwegian-bands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/playlist-blood-commands-essential-norwegian-bands\/","title":{"rendered":"Playlist: Blood Command&#8217;s Essential Norwegian Bands"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-77735\" src=\"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/BloodCommand-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" title=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>When you think of Norway, you probably think of fjords, the Northern Lights, its proud Viking heritage, and if you&#8217;re a football fan, probably Ole Gunnar Solskj\u00e6r.\u00a0It&#8217;s also one of the happiest countries in the world but you probably wouldn&#8217;t think as its music scene has a tendency to produce a host of angsty rock, punk and hardcore bands. Amongst them is Bergen &#8220;deathpop&#8221; mob <strong>Blood Command<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>With a rising reputation that has taken the band across Europe and the UK, the quartet recently returned with <a href=\"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/review-blood-command-return-of-the-arsonist-ep\/\"><em>&#8216;Return Of The Arsonist&#8217;<\/em><\/a>, a fleeting-yet-effective EP that showcases their radiant mix of punk, hardcore, pop and metal. Even though they&#8217;re carrying the Norwegian flag wherever they go, they&#8217;re not the first band from the Nordic country to do so. They&#8217;re part of a burgeoning music scene.<\/p>\n<p>To find out more it,\u00a0<strong>Blood Command<\/strong> guitarist\/keyboardist Yngve Andersen guides us through Norway&#8217;s essential bands.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><iframe src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/user\/alreadyhearduk\/playlist\/6TizHNqpGOlAMvo7hdPIky\" width=\"100%\" height=\"380\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/user\/alreadyhearduk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Follow us on Spotify for more playlists.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Turbonegro<\/h2>\n<p>A heavy influence on many of the \u2018Return Of The Arsonist\u2019 songs, as well as many of our older songs. We have our own Alice Cooper in Norway with that band, they even have the same makeup and have stolen \u2018And I like it, love it\u2019 from Cooper. They don\u2019t pretend not to though. That is their thing. Steal from old classics and get away with it. Great orchestra. Best people in the business. Lots of dad-humour. The bass player (Thomas Seltzer) has a TV- show in Norway and were nice enough to invite us to come play live. Blood Command have supported Turbonegro several times.<\/p>\n<h2>Of Grace And Hatred<\/h2>\n<p>Led by Bjarte Haugland, a long-time friend and bandmate (who has done numerous stand-ins on guitar in BC over the years). They call themselves &#8220;samuraicore&#8221;. No wonder, because it\u2019s all over the place. Their latest record is out on my label Loyal Blood Records and produced by Tommy Akerholdt, who is the now drummer of Turbonegro and guitar player of Silver. Norway\u2019s most underrated band by far and a pleasure to listen to in a sea of copycats.<\/p>\n<h2>Death Throne<\/h2>\n<p>Bergen\u2019s new hope for heavy music. These kids have got it. Produced by me (Yngve Andersen) and released on Loyal Blood Records.<\/p>\n<h2>JR Ewing<\/h2>\n<p>Norway\u2019s own Drive Like Jehu. This is one of the coolest Norwegian bands ever and they made a big mark on the way I write riffs and songs. They also taught me it\u2019s OK to suck live. Their shows were kickass 50% of the time, and <i>&#8220;WTF was this shit?&#8221;<\/i> the other 50% of the time. A punk band should have that effect on you, I think: <i>\u201chey I could do that\u201d<\/i>. Mission accomplished JR Ewing. Well done.<\/p>\n<h2>Silver<\/h2>\n<p>The best punk band in the world. Hands down I have never seen or heard anything this cool ever since. The members went on to bands like Turbonegro, Gluecifer and Kvelertak, so that should say enough of the quality. You can say <i>&#8220;this band is really good live&#8221;<\/i>, but it will always in all eternity suck compared to Silver.<\/p>\n<h2>Bokassa<\/h2>\n<p>I produced this band\u2019s 7\u201d and upcoming album. The 7\u201d is out on my label, Loyal Blood Records and they\u00b4re currently on tour with Metallica and Ghost in Europe, and that\u2019s their first tour ever. Listen to the brass in the background. My signature.<\/p>\n<h2>Seigmen<\/h2>\n<p>I don\u2019t know how to label this. Some goth-thing here, but its so well made. I would say Norway\u2019s most thought through band. This song was the soundtrack for an amazing Danish movie called <i>\u2018M\u00f8rkets \u00d8y\u2019<\/i> (Island of Darkness).<\/p>\n<h2>Kaospilot<\/h2>\n<p>This band\u2019s self-titled album is the shit. Whatever you thought screamo was, it\u2019s not it. This is it.<\/p>\n<h2>Barren Womb<\/h2>\n<p>A power duo consisting of only drums and guitars. Their last record is a masterpiece and they are proud members of the Loyal Blood house.<\/p>\n<h2>Locomotives<\/h2>\n<p>We\u2019re not really into this band, but if there is any justice left the whole world should know this song.<\/p>\n<h2>Barbie Bones<\/h2>\n<p>Bergen\u2019s best and only good rock band ever, before we came along. The singer is probably one of Norway\u2019s best producers.<\/p>\n<h2>Ungdomskulen<\/h2>\n<p>Tragically hip in its time, but boy they can write tunes. We tried to copy this lead line for <i>\u2018Quitters Don\u2019t Smoke\u2019<\/i>, but we never managed it.<\/p>\n<h2>La Casa Fantom<\/h2>\n<p>I don\u2019t know much about this band besides that they rule!
