Iero\u2019s 2014 solo debut,\u00a0<em>\u2018Stomachaches\u2019<\/em>, was by frnkiero andthe cellabration. The former My Chemical Romance guitarist followed that up with\u00a0<em>\u2018Parachutes\u2019<\/em> two years later, but that was the work of Frank Iero and the Patience.<\/p>\n<p>Now,\u00a0<em>\u2018Barriers\u2019\u00a0<\/em>comes courtesy of\u00a0<strong>Frank Iero and the Future Violents<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Evan Nestor, Matt Armstrong, Kayleigh Goldsworthy and Thursday drummer Tucker Rule. How much of a future this outfit has remains to be seen, but on\u00a0<em>\u2018Barriers\u2019<\/em>, violent it is.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Frank Iero and The Future Violents - Young and Doomed [Official Music Video]\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/r_om80wltaM?feature=oembed&#038;enablejsapi=1&#038;origin=https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Violent in ripping up and starting again, with yet another distinct brand of punk produced by Iero. <em>\u2018Fever Dream\u2019 <\/em>is uneasily chaotic, and owes more than a bit to Nirvana and Pixies, two bands <em>&#8216;Barriers&#8217;<\/em> producer Steve Albini has worked with. The song&#8217;s\u00a0dynamic impact and the frontman\u2019s fractured delivery making for one of the best, most challenging things he has created.<\/p>\n<p>Violent in tearing through utter joyrides like\u00a0<em>\u2018Moto Pop\u2019,\u00a0<\/em>which could be Jet\u2019s\u00a0<em>\u2018Are You Gonna Be My Girl?<\/em>\u2018 on drugs. It sounds exactly like you would imagine <strong>Iero<\/strong> having now assembled his purported dream line-up. It\u2019s a supercharged shot of unbridled punk adrenaline.<\/p>\n<p>Violent in grabbing demons by the throat and exorcising them through\u00a0<em>\u2018Six Feet Down Under\u2019<\/em>, the clearest reference to the previous band\u2019s horrific tour-bus crash in Australia in 2016:\u00a0<em>\u2018I don\u2019t wanna die here \/ I don\u2019t wanna hurt no more\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And yet unafraid to be not-so-violent on the swaying lullaby of\u00a0<em>\u2018A New Day\u2019s Coming\u2019<\/em>\u00a0or\u00a0<em>\u2018The Unfortunate\u2019&#8217;<\/em>s restrained piano and understated guitars allowing Rule\u2019s rhythms to shine.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Frank Iero<\/strong>\u00a0continues to keep us guessing, and not just over what his next band will be called.
