While the transition is audibly evident in its lighter, more accessible form, it\u2019s as if this next generation comes quite naturally. A personification of the vocal playoff between Richie Newman\u2019s soaring cleans and frontman Brett Anderson\u2019s guttural uncleans, <i>\u2018Vultures Above, Lions Below\u2019<\/i> takes the band\u2019s legacy under its wing and stands its ground with pride. <!-- more --> <\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p><i>Raising the bar high from the onset, towering opener <i>\u2018Vultures Above\u2019<\/i> bursts forth with savage energy. Larger than life riffs accompanied by venomous gang vocals are a tried and tested formula for metalcore success, but this brand of contagion doesn\u2019t surface often. <i>\u201cYou cannot bury me,\u201d<\/i> barks <i>\u2018Dig Me Out\u2019<\/i> amongst its quirky tech infusion, followed by the melodic destruction of a <i>\u2018Hurricane\u2019<\/i>, showcasing their talent at its heaviest.<br \/>\n<\/i><\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cYou fucking make me sick,\u201d<\/i> spits the opening line of <i>\u2018Separation\u2019<\/i>, drawing a versatile contrast with the reflective anthem to fading hope in <i>\u2018Can\u2019t Be Unsaid\u2019<\/i>, wrought with emotional burden. <i>\u2018Done For Good\u2019<\/i> similarly exclaims its disillusion through a towering stand-out anthem and an unexpectedly glittering tech opening.<\/p>\n<p>Defiantly throwing its weight around, <i>\u2018Reflection\u2019<\/i> appears punchy and venomous alongside the trudging reflection through <i>\u2018Pathways\u2019<\/i>, standing testament to guitarist Mark Harris\u2019 worth. The brutal determination of <i>\u2018Bring Me Home\u2019<\/i> allies itself with the relentless call to arms through <i>\u2018Unbroken\u2019<\/i>, each driving home an identity crisis between heartfelt melodies and blood-curdling screams.
