Developing beyond all expectations, 2014\u2019s <i>\u2018Unconditional\u2019<\/i> heralded an incendiary new chapter for the Dallas lads. This time around, they have employed Brian Hood to banish the chaotic quality of the original recordings and tell a subtly adjusted story behind each note.<!-- more --><\/p>\n<figure><\/figure>\n<p><i>\u201cI tried to save myself but I failed,\u201d<\/i> calls out the now-monumental <i>\u2018No Ordinary Love\u2019<\/i>, robbed of its intensity but also of its ear-shattering volume by the new remastering. However, the pent up devastation of <i>\u2018Beneath The Skin\u2019<\/i> remains pivotal, while the remix keenly emphasises guitarist Kellen McGregor\u2018s neat noodling.<\/p>\n<p>The crowd-rousing instructions on inhaling and exhaling through <i>\u2018Sleepless Nights\u2019<\/i> burst forth with defiant authority, scrapping the previous deafening mic feedback, while the instrumental beauty of <i>\u2018Possibilities\u2019<\/i> stands taller than ever before. Injecting clarity to the otherwise hectic <i>\u2018Pharisees\u2019<\/i> and adding more heartfelt aspects to <i>\u2018Divinity\u2019<\/i>, the new remastering polishes a rough diamond, removing sonic mayhem and clarifying every key change in Mullins\u2019 versatile range, most notably on <i>\u2018Not Enough\u2019<\/i>.<\/p>\n<p><i>\u201cWe\u2019ll fight \u2018til they hear us out,\u201d<\/i> cries relentlessly heavy addition <i>\u2018My Generation\u2019<\/i> through its rousing anthem of disillusioned youth, while the enchanting guitar solo amid <i>\u2018Stay The Course\u2019<\/i> frames Mullins\u2019 venomous screams in an addition to the record that should have been there from the start.<\/p>\n<p>Acoustic versions of fan favourites usually fall by the wayside as half-hearted attempts to translate heavy riffs onto a subtle acoustic guitar, however, <b>Memphis May Fire<\/b> have completely rethought and structured the two closing tracks to the deluxe edition.
