Californian quartet\u00a0Movements<\/strong> have shared new tracks which they have dubbed “the perfect introduction to a new era of Movements”<\/em>.<\/p>\n

‘Killing Time’<\/em> and\u00a0‘Lead Pipe’<\/em> were produced with frequent collaborator Will Yip, with videos for both tracks directed by Drew Horen.<\/p>\n

“These songs incorporate the core values and themes you’d expect from a Movements song \u2014 but they’re packaged up in a much different manner.”<\/em><\/h2>\n

It’s a statement we have to agree with. ‘Killing Time’\u00a0<\/em>contains a dark undertone that Movements<\/strong> have shaped their sound, yet it embraces a gritty groove. Whereas\u00a0‘Lead Pipe’<\/em> maintains the intensity with its thumping verse and riveting chorus. The band said it’s\u00a0“a classic mental health track, but one that you probably wouldn’t expect or even realize on first listen.”<\/em><\/p>\n

“The narrator here is describing the moment they realize their dark past is coming back to haunt them,”<\/em>\u00a0Movements <\/strong>explained. “Something they thought they’d overcome is suddenly knocking at the door and will do anything to get back in. However, this time is different. Our narrator is hellbent on ending that struggle once and for all, and has chosen to fight back instead of give in.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Collectively, both tracks certainly do continue Movements<\/strong> progression away from the emo\/post-hardcore sound as first heard on last year’s ‘Cherry Thrill’<\/em><\/a> single. It seems their currently unannounced third full-length will be their most interesting to date.<\/p>\n

Movements are coming back to the UK next month<\/h2>\n

As well as dropping new music,\u00a0Movements<\/strong> will be back in the UK next month for a short run of headline shows around their appearance at the\u00a0Slam Dunk Festival<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
