Post-Hardcore “supergroup”\u00a0L.S. Dunes<\/strong> have released a new single called\u00a0‘Benadryl Subreddit’<\/em>.<\/p>\n

It’s the band’s first slice of new material since the release of last year’s acclaimed debut album,\u00a0‘Past Lives<\/a>‘<\/em>.<\/p>\n

‘Benadryl Subreddit’<\/em>\u00a0sees the quintet serve up a dizzying blend of psyche-metal with Anthony Green’s distinctive vocals battling it out with Frank Iero and Travis Stever’s wiry guitar work. While Thursday<\/strong> pairing bassist Tim Payne and drummer Tucker Rule hold down a groove-laden rhythm. It also sees the band work with producer Alex Newport (Mars Volta, Frank Turner, City & Colour) and was recorded at Rancho De La Luna in Joshua Tree, CA.<\/p>\n

Although the band have been working on new material, guitarist Travis Stever explained ‘Benadryl Subreddit’<\/em> was a song that needed<\/em> to be released.\u00a0\u201cIn the early stages of the demo it was clear this song needed to be recorded and released sooner than many of the other songs we\u2019ve been working on. It captures an energy for the moment,”<\/em> he explained. “It\u2019s hard to keep hold of the energy and aim from demo to final recordings. I feel like with Alex Newport we did it!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

As for the song’s intriguing title, Frank Iero shared it came from a discussion he had with a fellow\u00a0My Chemical Romance<\/strong> bandmate.<\/p>\n

\u201cBenadryl\u2019s title comes from a conversation that Mikey Way (My Chemical Romance) and I were having one night on tour about sober guys finding out legal ways of getting high without doing actual drugs and messing with their sobriety,”<\/em> said Iero before going on to explain how the track came together. “The music for this song came about when I knew we were going into the desert to record with Alex Newport at Rancho De La Luna. I had just received a new guitar in the mail from Ben Wasser at Guitarworks called the \u2018Shaft\u2019 and I got to thinking about the desert and what I thought that guitar should sound like in that setting. That riff came out immediately. \u201cBenadryl Subreddit\u201d represents the heat of the day out in the desert, sweating bullets and going fast.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The video for ‘Benadryl Subreddit<\/em>‘ sees vocalist Anthony Green play a mischievous ice-cream truck guy giving out some magical treats to some unsuspecting clientele.<\/p>\n
