It&#8217;s called\u00a0<em>&#8216;The One<\/em>&#8216;.<\/p>\n<p>It sees the quartet evolve their sound yet retain the emotive choruses that have seen <strong>Taking Back Sunday<\/strong> become so influential. With Adam Lazzara&#8217;s towering vocals, John Nolan&#8217;s atmospheric guitar, and the grounded rhythmic work of Shaun Cooper (bass), and Mark O\u2019Connell (drums), it&#8217;s a stirring comeback.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;&#8216;The One&#8217; is a sweet love song\u2014full-on John Cusack holding a boombox,&#8221;<\/em> the band says in a nod to the classic 80\u2019s cinema moment in Say Anything. <em>&#8220;We\u2019ve been waiting a long time to share this song and we\u2019re so excited that we finally can. We hope you love it as much as we do.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Described as an &#8220;<em>inspiring declaration of love, hope, and acceptance&#8221;<\/em>,\u00a0<em>&#8216;The One<\/em>&#8216;s origins came from a riff Cooper wrote when his grandmother died. &#8220;Devastated with overpowering sadness, he found comfort in writing music and initially titled the riff \u2018Posivibes\u2019 in an effort to find some light through the darkness. He never shared the story of the title or how that riff came together with us until after it was complete&#8221;,\u00a0<strong>Taking Back Sunday<\/strong> explained. <em>&#8220;Shaun didn\u2019t want his story affecting the ultimate meaning of the song, because it\u2019s actually an uplifting one.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The track is also their first release since signing with LA-based indie label,\u00a0<strong>Fantasy Records<\/strong>, earlier this year.
