Today, London band\u00a0WACO<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>have released a new EP and single titled\u00a0‘Flip Forever’<\/em>. It sees the group paying tribute to late bassist Chris \u2018Flip\u2019 Cowley, who died suddenly in 2018, on what would be his 35th birthday.<\/p>\n

‘Flip Forever’<\/em> captures\u00a0WACO<\/strong> as their most archetypal, embracing elements of pop, punk, and radio rock in what is a ferocious and passionate tribute to Cowley. A video by WACO<\/strong> collaborator and “road dog” Paul Blue\u00a0can be viewed below. It features unseen live footage and memories of Chris taken from WACO<\/strong>\u2019s early tour.<\/p>\n

The accompanying EP’s carries on the sentimental tone, serving as a snapshot into “Flip”s time in the band with old favourites ‘Agitation\u2019<\/em> and\u00a0‘\u2018Rotten Tooth\u2019<\/em>. It concludes with \u2018Best Friend\u2019<\/em>, an ode to fraternity and friendship and the stepping stone to WACO<\/strong>\u2019s more experimental, eclectic side they would develop on their albums.<\/p>\n

Since the tragic loss of “Flip”, WACO\u00a0<\/strong>have released two albums, ‘Hope Rituals’<\/em> <\/a>(2020) and ‘Rock Spirit Absolute Joy’<\/em> <\/a>(2022), through Venn Records<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Having previously released singles in aid of NHS Charities Together, Blueprint (formerly The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust) and Mind,\u00a0WACO<\/strong> will be donating all money made from the\u00a0‘Flip Forever’<\/em> EP on Bandcamp to Cruse<\/a>. They are a bereavement support charity that offer a variety of services to support and inform those grieving. This includes campaigning for better business standards and improving bereavement laws, and projects on how they can support communities such as schools, prisons or retirement villages.<\/p>\n
