{"id":95287,"date":"2024-01-15T10:00:08","date_gmt":"2024-01-15T10:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/?p=95287"},"modified":"2024-01-14T19:44:27","modified_gmt":"2024-01-14T19:44:27","slug":"song-of-the-day-rough-justice-faith-in-vain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/song-of-the-day-rough-justice-faith-in-vain\/","title":{"rendered":"Song of the Day: Rough Justice &#8211; &#8216;Faith In Vain&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The UK hardcore scene continues to be in a healthy state with <strong>Rough Justice<\/strong> being the latest name to emerge out of the Sheffield scene.\u00a0<em>&#8216;Faith In Vain,&#8217;\u00a0<\/em>the title track from their debut album captures what the quintet are all about; groove-heavy metallic hardcore with a bellowing chorus.<\/p>\n<p>Although the track thrives on a hefty amount of chugging riffs, there&#8217;s a sentimental, thought-provoking message as guitarist Elliot Reynolds renounces his religious upbringing.<em>&#8220;Never be able to believe in\/<\/em><br \/>\n<em>I guess the blood of my body is just faith in vain,&#8221;<\/em> he roars on the chorus. Whereas its chorus is executed with a hint of grunginess, highlighting <strong>Rough Justice<\/strong>&#8216;s sophisticated approach beyond the straight-forward hardcore.<\/p>\n<p>Released on fellow Steel City hardcore mob, <strong>Malevolence<\/strong>&#8216;s <strong>MLVLTD<\/strong> label,\u00a0<em>&#8216;Faith In Vain&#8217;<\/em> sees <strong>Rough Justice<\/strong> weaves in a narrative of guilt, fear, faith, and hidden intentions. The end result is a poignant and intense record that allows the five-piece to leave their mark. Coming in a brisk 23 minutes, its eight tracks serve as a semi-discography overview of\u00a0<strong>Rough Justice<\/strong>&#8216;s work to date. Tracks such as\u00a0<em>&#8216;Coward&#8217;<\/em> and\u00a0<em>&#8216;Overruled&#8217;<\/em> are meaty, boisterous, and firmly thrive in their metallic hardcore skin. Equally,\u00a0<em>&#8216;Boa Constrictor&#8217;\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>&#8216;Backwards Mask&#8217;<\/em> are as bold with a 2-step groove and vocalist Jimmy&#8217;s aggressive tongue.
