Acres<\/strong> have been part of the UK scene for over a decade, grinding away to make a name for themselves. Last year the South Coast quintet delivered their second album, ‘Burning Throne’<\/em>. It saw interest in the band grow, so much so that they’ve gone on to sign with\u00a0Solid State\/<\/strong>Tooth & Nail Records<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

With a history of supporting hardcore and metalcore bands,\u00a0Acres<\/strong> are a natural fit for the label. The announcement earlier this month also saw them unleash a new track.\u00a0‘A Different Shade of Misery’<\/em> captures\u00a0Acres<\/strong>‘ firey heaviness, textural ambience, and soaring melodies, in a tight raw and emotional package.<\/p>\n

Throughout their career,\u00a0Acres<\/strong>‘ songwriting has taken an introspective approach and \u00a0‘A Different Shade of Misery’<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>is no different.\u00a0“Lyrically this song is about regaining control of yourself and confronting your demons,”<\/em> explains vocalist Ben Lumber. “I wrote this when I was at a really low point and I’d often sit there thinking, ‘Man, you need to snap out of this.’ At one point, I felt like my own worst enemy and I was fighting a war inside my own head. It’s a really special song because, musically, it’s a new direction and the start of a new era for our band. We’ve always aimed to reinvent ourselves with every release and this was one of those songs that just naturally came to us.”<\/em><\/p>\n

If\u00a0‘A Different Shade of Misery’<\/em> starts a new era for Acres<\/strong>, then the future looks bright for them.<\/p>\n

They were expected to join Holding Absence<\/strong>,\u00a0Capstan<\/strong>, and\u00a0Casey\u00a0<\/strong>on what was an extensive North American run. However, visa issues<\/a> have led to\u00a0Acres<\/strong> pulling out.<\/p>\n

However, they won’t have any problems when they head on a UK tour to support Resolve<\/strong><\/a> alongside\u00a0Cane Hill\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0Half Me<\/strong> in May.<\/p>\n
