The Wonder Years<\/strong> have never hidden from the fact they’re fans of pro-wrestling, especially frontman Dan Campbell. So with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE<\/strong>) heading to Philadelphia in April for a multitude of shows around\u00a0‘WrestleMania’<\/em> weekend, including\u00a0‘NXT Stand & Deliver’<\/em> the sextet have provided a new track as its theme song.\u00a0‘Year of the Vulture’<\/em> sees\u00a0The Wonder Years<\/strong> produce an intense number that they say matches the “passion and fury”<\/em> of\u00a0WWE NXT\u00a0<\/strong>Champion – Ilja Dragunov.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the Inquirer<\/a>,\u00a0The Wonder Years<\/strong>‘ vocalist explained how the track came together. “<\/em>Over the summer, our record label pitched NXT because they were specifically looking for a Philadelphia-based band and for one that could speak about wrestling and has an interest in it. [NXT] listened and said \u2018we really liked the band but we don\u2019t feel like any of these songs fit.\u2019 So I asked, could we write one to pitch?”<\/em> Campbell stated.<\/p>\n

Campbell goes on to explain that\u00a0WWE <\/strong>wrestler Seth Rollins gave him an insight into what the main event to ‘NXT Stand & Deliver’<\/em> could be, and that it’d (probably) involve Ilja Dragunov. Having watched several matches and promos of the Russian-German wrestler, Campbell highlighted Ilja’s fighting spirit; “he\u2019s an undersized guy who is willing to lose if that\u2019s what happens \u2014 but he\u2019s going to go.”<\/em><\/p>\n

As for the track itself, \u00a0‘Year of the Vulture’<\/em> sees\u00a0TWY<\/strong> at their most fearsome, blazed with fiery, thrasy guitars and Campbell’s unhinged vocals.<\/p>\n

The Wonder Years<\/strong> join a long list of noteworthy bands who have provided music for WWE<\/strong>‘s developmental division’s special shows. Other bands who have been featured on\u00a0NXT<\/strong> include\u00a0Bring Me The Horizon<\/strong>,\u00a0Poppy<\/strong>,\u00a0Turnstile<\/strong>,\u00a0A Day To Remember<\/strong>,\u00a0Pvris<\/strong>, and\u00a0Beartooth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

‘NXT Stand & Deliver’<\/em> takes place on Saturday, April 6th at the Wells Fargo Center. While\u00a0WWE<\/strong> WrestleMania XL happen on April 6th and 7th at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

The Wonder Years<\/strong> will be back in the UK in the spring for the Slam Dunk Festival<\/strong><\/a> on Saturday, May 25th and Sunday, May 26th.<\/p>\n

While Campbell is preparing to release \u2018In Lieu Of Flowers\u2019<\/a><\/em>, the third album from Aaron West and the Roaring Twenties<\/strong> on April 12th.<\/p>\n
