Their nineteenth full-length,\u00a0<em>&#8216;Invincible Shield&#8217;<\/em>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/news\/judas-priest-ap-rush-tom-sawyer-glenn-tipton-b2507331.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">seemingly<\/a> shows that despite going at it for the best part of 50 years, they&#8217;ve not lost a step in their ageing heavy metal bones.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere,\u00a0<strong>Mayday Parade<\/strong> delivers a set of lo-fi variations of fan favourites, and internet misfit <strong>NOAHFINNCE<\/strong> aims to branch out with their debut album. and <strong>Nothing<\/strong> celebrates the 10th anniversary of <em>&#8216;Guilty of Everything<\/em>&#8216;.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s other noteworthy releases come from alt-pop\/rock singer\u00a0<strong>Maggie Lindemann<\/strong>, Scottish atmospheric trio\u00a0<strong>Midas Fall<\/strong>, and transatlantic metallers <strong>Kill The Lights<\/strong>. While German duo <strong>Floya<\/strong> (ex ALAZKA and Time, The Valuator) debut with\u00a0<em>&#8216;Yume&#8217;<\/em>, a record that blends the anthemic rock of U2 with the glossy pop-rock of The 1975.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, post-hardcore band <strong>Too Close To Touch<\/strong> honours the memory of late vocalist Keaton Pierce with their last album &#8211; <em>&#8216;For Keeps&#8217;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"NOAHFINNCE\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-95755\" src=\"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/NOAHFINNCE-1000x613.jpeg\" alt=\"NOAHFINNCE\" width=\"800\" height=\"490\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/NOAHFINNCE-1000x613.jpeg 1000w, https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/NOAHFINNCE-300x184.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/NOAHFINNCE-768x471.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/NOAHFINNCE.jpeg 1500w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>NOAHFINNCE &#8211; Growing Up On The Internet<\/h2>\n<p>From posting covers on YouTube, finding comfort in online communities, to transitioning into an emerging rock star, the title of\u00a0<strong>NOAHFINNCE<\/strong>&#8216;s debut full-length is certainly fitting. Having previously comfortably revelled in a pop-punk mould, this 11-track outing allows him to show more of his personality.<\/p>\n<p>Although he still stylistically sits alongside Yungbluds and MGKs of the world, <strong>NOAHFINNCE<\/strong> (Noah Finn Adams) is far from a carbon copy. Throughout there are subtle musical twists, varying in results, that paint Adams<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>as someone willing to push themselves. <em>&#8216;I Know Better&#8217;<\/em> flirts with a gritty punk sound that is never quite realised, although Adams&#8217; snarling distorted vocals are delivered with conviction. <em>&#8216;Alexithymia&#8217;<\/em> leans into the straight-up catchy pop-punk mould, only to be broken up by a quirky restaurant menu skit (anyone for\u00a0<em>&#8220;self-doubt trout&#8221;<\/em>?) Whereas <em>&#8216;Kinda Love It&#8217;<\/em> is a swirling, fuzzy ball of hyperactivity.<\/p>\n<p>Primarily, Noah&#8217;s strong point is his ability to deliver boisterous hooks. Tracks such as <em>&#8216;Scumbag&#8217;\u00a0<\/em>(with its irritating <em>&#8220;ooh ohh&#8221;<\/em>s), the arena emo-rock of &#8216;<em>Subtitles&#8217;<\/em>, and the infectious <em>&#8216;3 Day Headache&#8217;\u00a0<\/em>exemplify this.<\/p>\n<p>Diagnosed with ADHD and autism combined with his sexuality as a queer transgender man, <strong>NOAHFINNCE<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>&#8216;Growing Up On The Internet&#8217;<\/em> is an honest insight into a young (but relevant) artist trying to find his place and purpose, not just as a musician but as a person. His diagnosis, and experiences with transphobia and mental health, give Adams a sense of authenticity, which can often be clouded by the vibrant sounds he offers. Collectively they&#8217;ve produced a majestic album that ebbs and flows with grace.<\/p>\n<p>Hamilton&#8217;s presence, primarily on bass, instantly pays off with the foreboding opening of\u00a0<em>&#8216;In the Morning We&#8217;ll Be Someone Else&#8217;<\/em>. Heaton&#8217;s towering voice soars against escalating guitars and low-end drums. It segues into the textured richness of\u00a0<em>&#8216;I Am Wrong&#8217;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>&#8216;Salt&#8217;\u00a0<\/em>floats with radiance, leaning into the trio&#8217;s post-rock tendencies with comfort. When paired with\u00a0<em>&#8216;In This Avalanche&#8217;<\/em>, the fragility of\u00a0<strong>Midas Fall<\/strong>&#8216;s music comes to the forefront. Distant, yet impactful, drums complement the sweeping strings and Heaton&#8217;s gorgeous vocals. Moments like these are countered by the urgency of\u00a0<em>&#8216;Point of Diminishing Return&#8217;. <\/em><\/p>\n<p>However,\u00a0<strong>Midas Fall<\/strong>&#8216;s flair for taking a spacious approach is what makes\u00a0<em>&#8216;Cold Waves Divide Us&#8217;<\/em> a captivating album. Whether that&#8217;s on the serene minimalism of <em>&#8216;Atrophy&#8217;<\/em> or\u00a0<em>&#8216;Little Wooden Boxes\u2019<\/em>, or the ability to gently draw you in, before delivering an atmospheric wall of noise like on the title track.
