{"id":95814,"date":"2024-03-13T09:00:56","date_gmt":"2024-03-13T09:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/?p=95814"},"modified":"2024-03-13T09:46:33","modified_gmt":"2024-03-13T09:46:33","slug":"big-special-butchers-bin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/big-special-butchers-bin\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Special Preview New Album with &#8216;Butcher&#8217;s Bin&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Having set a release date of May 10th for their debut album,\u00a0<em>&#8216;POSTINDUSTRIAL HOMETOWN BLUES\u2019<\/em>, Black Country duo\u00a0<strong>Big Special<\/strong> have delivered another preview in the form of\u00a0<em>\u2018Butcher&#8217;s Bin&#8217;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Always ones to tell it as it is, it sees them address the struggle that working-class artists face when breaking into the Arts. &#8220;<em>it&#8217;s s about class awareness and the realisation that the working classes are used as nothing but a commodity and set against each other at every turn,&#8221;<\/em> explains\u00a0<strong>Big Special\u00a0<\/strong>vocalist Joe Hicklin. <em>&#8220;Their existence trivialised and struggles denied; the off cuts tossed to feed the rabid hounds of neoliberalism.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The song is about all of this from the perspective of declining mental health, whilst trying to make a living as an artist and to break through in a time and place where a life in (the) arts is seen as a luxury, granted to those of a higher social class or a fruitless pursuit for idealistic fools.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8216;Butcher&#8217;s Bin&#8217;<\/em> is considerably <strong>Big Special<\/strong> in their most rawest form. Callum Moloney&#8217;s accentuated drum work combines with spacious synths, allowing Hicklin&#8217;s semi-spoken words to take centre stage.
