Emerging Brightonian quartet El Moono<\/strong> are getting closer to the release of their debut album. With\u00a0‘The Waking Sun’<\/em> due for release on May 10th via\u00a0Lockjaw Records<\/strong>, the post-metallers have shared its title track.<\/p>\n

Opening with a slaughtering, distorted swagger, it segues into a foreboding, sinister number that complements the torturous lyrical nature. Leading to a towering mid-section, dominated by Chris Cartwright’s impressive drum work, Leah Stanhope of fellow Brighton band, Congratulations, <\/strong>makes a guest appearance for its ethereal comedown.<\/p>\n

On the track,\u00a0El Moono<\/strong> explained “t<\/em>he song is a day-to-day analysis of depression, which lingers throughout every \u2018waking\u2019 moment of the day. This has been a general theme in our writing since our last record, ‘Temple Corrupted’, and we felt that the title track summarises the album as a whole.”\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

The band also commented on the addition of Stanhope, stating “her vocals add so much emotion to the song – it\u2019s possibly the only song we\u2019ve written in a major key.”<\/em><\/p>\n

It’s the latest in a series of previews of ‘The Waking Sun’<\/em>, and on the evidence of this,\u00a0‘The Charm<\/a>,’<\/em> and\u00a0‘Haunting<\/a>‘<\/em>, it promises to be an outstanding record.<\/p>\n
