It comes as the Philadelphia punks are set to release a deluxe edition of their latest album,\u00a0<em>&#8216;Some Of It Was True&#8217;<\/em>, this Friday (May 31st).<\/p>\n<p>Recorded during the same sessions that would be <em>\u2018Some of it Was True\u2019<\/em><em>,\u00a0&#8216;Gone West&#8217;<\/em> is delivered with\u00a0<strong>The Menzingers<\/strong>&#8216; familiar brand of Americana-tinged punk. Accompanied by earnest lyricism and an earthly rhymic section, it&#8217;s a short reminder of the quartet&#8217;s storytelling flair.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe recorded \u2018Gone West\u2019 at the same time as \u2018Some of it Was True\u2019 and although we didn\u2019t think it fit just right on the album, it has some of my favorite guitar and vocal melodies,\u201d<\/em> explains vocalist\/guitarist Tom May. <em>\u201cThe lyrics are a tongue-in-cheek play on accepting the truth of your own mortality. I always thought \u201cgoin\u2019 west\u201d was an interesting euphemism for dying; following the sun.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&#8216;Gone West&#8217;<\/em> is one of two bonus tracks that accompany the original album released last October. The second previously unreleased track is called\u00a0<em>&#8216;The Last One Killed Me&#8217;<\/em>.
