Newport goth-noir pop group The Nightmares\u00a0<\/strong>have returned with a new single titled\u00a0‘Something In The Dark’<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Described as “a song for the outsiders, a song for those who don\u2019t fit in – the misfits, weirdos and the nonconformists,”<\/em> by vocalist and guitarist Adam Parslow, the track is the quintet’s first (proper) new track released this year (they released a ‘From Above Remix’ EP <\/em>in March<\/a>). Stylistically reminiscent of The Cure and Killing Joke, Parslow’s dark tale is complemented by eerie synths and a menacing undertone.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe narrative of the lyrics tells the story of a young woman called \u201cBlue\u201d who one fateful day sees something that cannot be explained,”<\/em> explained Parslow, The Nightmares<\/strong> frontman. “This moment changes her forever and leaves her literally speechless from that point onwards. The song was influenced by our love of artists such as Gary Numan, Killing Joke and Heavens. The music video was inspired by our collective fascination with cult 90s television programmes like The X-Files & Twin Peaks.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The release of \u00a0‘Something In The Dark’<\/em> comes as\u00a0The Nightmares<\/strong> prepare to kick off a run of summer shows including festival appearances.<\/p>\n
