As they prepare to mark the 25th anniversary of\u00a0‘Something to Write Home About’<\/em>,\u00a0The Get Up Kids<\/strong> have treated fans with a video for album highlight –\u00a0‘Ten Minutes’<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Made up of archival live footage of DIY shows, posters, photos, and other mementoes from the era, the clip is directed by Josh Berwanger from The Anniversary<\/strong>.\u00a0 Both bands emerged from Kansas City, Missouri, and as\u00a0The Get Up Kids<\/strong>‘ Jim Suptic states, Berwanger\u00a0“witnessed some of these moments first hand”<\/em>.<\/p>\n

When reflecting on writing\u00a0‘Ten Minutes’<\/em>, Suptic commented “When I wrote the opening guitar riff for \u2018Ten Minutes,\u2019 my inspiration was the song \u2018Do the Vampire\u2019 by Superdrag. It\u2019s pretty obvious once you know. Their album, ‘Head Trip in Every Key’, was on heavy rotation when we were writing ‘Something to Write Home About’.”<\/em><\/p>\n

“When I listen back to this song and watch the new video for it, my first impression is just how young we were. Some of us were literally teenagers. My voice almost sounds like a totally different person than who I am today. With that said, maybe that is why the album connected with so many people. We were singing about the things everyone struggles with at that age. At its core, ‘Something to Write Home About’ is a coming of age record.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The quintet have also shared an auspicious demo version of\u00a0‘Ten Minutes’<\/em>, that highlights its road-tested quality having fine-tuned the song on the road and in their practice space inside a five-story decommissioned army. training facility.<\/p>\n

As previously reported<\/a>, ‘Something to Write Home About (25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)’\u00a0<\/em>will be released digitally on August 26th with a physical release on September 20th via Polyvinyl Record Co<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
