Florida outfit\u00a0Underoath<\/strong> has returned with a song titled ‘Teeth’<\/em>.<\/p>\n

While it contains the five-piece’s usual brand of metalcore it, more importantly, sees them pushing their music into new areas. The basis of\u00a0‘Teeth’<\/em> leans into lush synths, samples, and programmed dance-driven drum beats.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith our new track \u2018Teeth,\u2019 we dove into a pretty exciting territory for me\u2014something I\u2019ve always wanted to explore with this band but never felt was possible,”<\/em> states vocalist Spencer Chamberlain. “It almost has a vibe reminiscent of classic hip-hop samples or something that LINKIN PARK might have done, which I find so cool. I never imagined we\u2019d actually pull it off in an Underoath song, but it came together so naturally.”<\/em><\/p>\n

For guitarist Timothy McTague,\u00a0‘Teeth’<\/em> was a reminder of how\u00a0Underoath<\/strong> can be as versatile and expressive as they want to be. “Nothing is \u201cnot us\u201d and I think we remembered we can do whatever the fuck we want, Instead of trying to write a specific type of song\u2026we just let it write itself,”<\/em> comments McTague. “I think the really difficult and meaningful work as an artist is knowing when to get out of the way and creativity is sometimes letting the song write itself and not trying to mould it into something it isn\u2019t. Now, more than ever, I personally think that songs have an identity and almost a soul if you let them and that\u2019s what \u201cTeeth\u201d is to me.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The release of\u00a0‘Teeth’<\/em> comes as\u00a0Underoath\u00a0<\/strong>kick off a lengthy North American tour that sees them celebrating the 20th anniversary of\u00a0‘They’re Only Chasing Safety’<\/em>. A new\u00a0Underoath\u00a0<\/strong>album is expected to be released in 2025.<\/p>\n
