British metallic hardcore band Ithaca<\/strong> have announced they are splitting up. The quintet, which formed in 2012, will play a final show at the O2 Academy Islington in London on February 8th 2025.<\/p>\n

In a statement shared on Instagram<\/a>,\u00a0Ithaca<\/strong> explained\u00a0“was a huge decision to make”<\/em> and that\u00a0“there\u2019s been no falling out”<\/em> between its members. The band, consisting of vocalist Djamila Boden Azzouz, guitarists Sam Chetan-Welsh and Will Sweet, bassist Dom Moss, and drummer James Lewis, go on to say they’re\u00a0“no longer able to balance our life responsibilities”<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Their final show, which they’ve called\u00a0‘The Cremation Party’<\/em>, will be preceded by a final song.<\/p>\n

Ithaca<\/strong>‘s breakthrough came in 2019 with the release of their debut album,\u00a0‘The Language Of Injury’<\/em>. It was followed by 2022’s\u00a0‘They Fear Us’<\/em>. Both albums received plenty of praise with critics focusing on the raw emotion, incorporating math rock, post-rock, noise, doom, and screamo in their sound.<\/p>\n

“Ithaca is coming to an end. This was a huge decision to make, but it\u2019s the right time.<\/em><\/p>\n

“There\u2019s been no falling out or creative differences, in fact we\u2019re closer than ever, we\u2019re just no longer able to balance our life responsibilities with giving you the standard of art that you deserve, and feel like we\u2019ve fulfilled more than our wildest dreams could have imagined in terms of where this band would take us. Now, we\u2019re ready to put it to rest.<\/em><\/p>\n

We don\u2019t quite have the words yet to describe what this band and all of your support has meant to us; that\u2019ll come over time.<\/em><\/p>\n

“But it\u2019s not the end just yet. We came to this decision together so, true to us, we want to mark the end of this journey with intention and in style. We\u2019ll be releasing a final track, and we\u2019d like to cordially invite you to our funeral: our final headline show, The Cremation Party, where we can grieve together. It\u2019ll be a proper wake- there\u2019ll be DJs, us cracking out old songs we\u2019ve not played in years and, inevitably, lots of crying. Tickets go on sale Friday 1st November 10am, we\u2019ll see you there.<\/em><\/p>\n
