Dunes Violet\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Ls-Dunes-Violet-300x300.png 300w, https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Ls-Dunes-Violet-100x100.png 100w, https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Ls-Dunes-Violet.png 620w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>Just over two years on from delivering their debut album, <em>&#8216;Past Lives&#8217;<\/em>,\u00a0<strong>L.S. Dunes<\/strong> have reemerged with a sophomore record that builds on its predecessor. As well-documented, the personnel behind this so-called &#8220;supergroup&#8221; come from &#8220;scene&#8221; royalty; My Chemical Romance, Circa Survive, Thursday, and Coheed &amp; Cambria. While their 2022 debut carried itself with the stench of being a side project, it&#8217;s clear <strong>L.S. Dunes<\/strong> is here to stay.<\/p>\n<p>On the surface, <em>&#8216;Violet&#8217;<\/em> is the sound of a band which has organically grown and is now comfortable playing with each other. This results in a tonally assured collection of songs, unshackled from whatever hefty expectations they had previously.<\/p>\n<p>Through an expansive pallet, songs such as\u00a0<em>&#8216;Like Magick&#8217;\u00a0<\/em>(with its stirring guitar solo) and\u00a0<em>&#8216;Holograms&#8217;<\/em> are spacious yet are far jarring. The post-hardcore grit remains intact. On <em>&#8216;Fatal Deluxe&#8217;,<\/em> Anthony Green&#8217;s melodies swirl around Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance) and Travis Stever&#8217;s (Coheed &amp; Cambria) sturdy guitars. All the while bassist Tim Payne and drummer Tucker Rule (both Thursday) accompany them with a colourful rhythm section. Later on,\u00a0<em>&#8216;You Deserve To Be Haunted&#8217; <\/em>is ignited by riveting fret-play, Green&#8217;s distinct high-pitched screams, and low-end percussion. Whereas, the title track weaves itself between harsh catharist as Green sings of regret and pure optimism and forgiveness; <em>&#8220;You&#8217;re gonna get what you deserve, You are the only star&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8216;Machines&#8217;<\/em> sees them faintly touch upon early-2000s New York with a pulsating, fuzzy, indie rock tone. Much like\u00a0<em>&#8216;Violet&#8217;<\/em> as a whole,\u00a0<strong>L.S. Dunes<\/strong> never sound like imitators of anyone or anything else. Sure there are the fingerprints of the bands the personnel are known for.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"L.S. Dunes - Machines (Official Music Video)\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BW9WP6uSM5c?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Late highlights\u00a0<em>&#8216;Paper Tigers&#8217;\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>&#8216;Things I Thought Would Last Forever&#8217;<\/em> emphasise\u00a0<em>&#8216;Violet<\/em>&#8216;s cohesiveness. The first is a stirring hard rock ballad with Tucker Rule&#8217;s textured drums, Green&#8217;s floating chorus, and riveting guitars. The latter subtly implores with a cinematic soundscape, allowing Iero and Stever&#8217;s guitars to succulently intertwine. Meanwhile, their rhymic bandmates (Payne and Rule) provide a grounded heftiness.\u00a0The album&#8217;s overarching message of love and kindness is driven home on the anthemic\u00a0<em>&#8216;Forgiveness&#8217;<\/em>. Its luscious melody resonates with optimism as Green sings\u00a0<em>&#8220;we&#8217;ll keep pushing on and on until the memory is dead&#8221;<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Along with producer Will Yip,\u00a0<strong>L.S. Dunes<\/strong> has created a strong follow-up.\u00a0<em>&#8216;Violet&#8217;<\/em> expands on their foundations, allowing them to confidently explore sonically. However, it remains cohesive, giving its members confidence to establish <strong>L.S. Dunes<\/strong> as merely an off-shoot from their &#8220;day jobs&#8221;.\u00a0 In short, <em>&#8216;Violet&#8217;<\/em> gives\u00a0<strong>L.S. Dunes\u00a0<\/strong>a firm foundation to build on.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8216;Violet&#8217;<\/em> by\u00a0<strong>L.S.
