Last year we were introduced<\/a> to Sheffield emo outfit, The Throwaway Scene<\/strong>. Having impressed with tracks such as\u00a0\u2018Bury Me\u2019<\/em>, the quartet have returned with a song called\u00a0‘Talking Slowly’<\/em>.<\/p>\n

On the surface, it’s a thrill ride slice of emo rock which picks off from the momentum of their\u00a0‘On Death & Dying\u2019\u00a0<\/em>EP. However, lyrically the carries a deeper meaning to vocalist Oliver Hame. \u201cWe were writing this during a very low episode of my life, so naturally a lot of what I was feeling ended up in this weird little story I created to help cope with the idea of taking meds,”<\/em> explains The Throwaway<\/strong> Scene<\/strong>‘s frontman. “The bad guy was offering a drug to help you slot into the idealised world he\u2019d created, the main character is basically me writing about whether or not to take this drug to fit in. I didn\u2019t know whether I wanted to be part of the world anymore. It took a lot to come back, and with this song, I got to feel like I came back fighting. It\u2019s such a powerful, honest song and I\u2019m so proud of every moment of it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

‘Talking Slowly’<\/em>s a potent and honest struggle with identity and acceptance. It results in an energetic and addictive track, with a cathartic core. Here’s hoping we hear more from The Throwaway Scene\u00a0<\/strong>in the coming months.<\/p>\n
