However, with the website suffering technical issues earlier in the week, and a bit of cold, I&#8217;ve only had the chance to cover one of these properly.<\/p>\n<p>That record is <i>&#8216;Bambi&#8217;<\/i> by <b>Anxious<\/b>. Although it&#8217;s perhaps not the most important record, it&#8217;s still one that I highly recommend. You can read my thoughts on it <a href=\"https:\/\/alreadyheard.com\/staging\/review-anxious-bambi\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3>Killswitch Engage &#8211;\u00a0 This Consequence<\/h3>\n<p>As for those other releases, I can share some brief thoughts on the new albums from\u00a0<strong>Killswitch Engage<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Silverstein<\/strong>. The former is the fourth outing since Jesse Leach returned to the\u00a0<strong>KSE<\/strong> fold over a decade ago.\u00a0<em>&#8216;This Consequence&#8217;<\/em> marks their return after six years away. On the surface, it has all the traits of what you want from a\u00a0<strong>Killswitch\u00a0<\/strong>record;\u00a0Adam Dutkiewicz and Joel Stroetz shredding guitars, and Leach&#8217;s impassioned with bassist Mike D&#8217;Antonio and drummer Justin Foley making for a hefty rhythmic pairing. Early tracks such as\u00a0<em>&#8216;Abandon Us&#8217;<\/em> and\u00a0<em>&#8216;Discordant Nation&#8217;<\/em> are ruthless. While\u00a0<em>&#8216;Aftermath&#8217;<\/em> sees Foley truly thrive. The metalcore stalwarts show they&#8217;re capable of delivering riveting hooks. <em>&#8216;Forever Aligned&#8217;\u00a0<\/em>and\u00a0<em>&#8216;I Believe&#8217;<\/em> are assured examples of this. It&#8217;s countered by frantic moments like\u00a0<em>&#8216;The Fall of Us&#8217;<\/em> and <em>&#8216;Where It Dies&#8217;<\/em> dirty riffs. <em>&#8216;This Consequence&#8217;<\/em>s cohesion comes from the politically-fueled angst that is lyrically ablaze across its 10 tracks.<\/p>\n<h3>Silverstein &#8211; Antibloom<\/h3>\n<p>As for <strong>Silverstein<\/strong>,\u00a0<em>&#8216;Antibloom&#8217;<\/em> is the first half of a two-part record and comes as they prepare to mark their 25th anniversary. Nevertheless, the Canadian outfit clearly isn&#8217;t resting on nostalgia in this eight-track collection. With little room made for filler,\u00a0<em>&#8216;Antibloom&#8217;<\/em> is dominated by a familiar brand of intense post-hardcore. Tracks such as\u00a0<em>&#8216;Don\u2019t Let Me Get Too Low&#8217;<\/em> and\u00a0<em>&#8216;Confession&#8217;<\/em> prosper thanks to their radiant hooks.\u00a0<em>&#8216;A Little Fight&#8217;<\/em> is considerably a brief misstep into poppier territory, yet it&#8217;s countered by\u00a0<em>&#8216;Skin and Bones&#8217;<\/em> massive anthemic chorus. If anything,\u00a0<em>&#8216;Antibloom&#8217;<\/em> highlights\u00a0<strong>Silverstein<\/strong>&#8216;s evolution over the past 25 years. It mixes reliable post-hardcore with flourishes of alternative rock and pop-rock. Although the quality of what&#8217;s offered isn&#8217;t entirely consistent. Despite this, there&#8217;s just about enough here to keep fans interested until\u00a0<em>&#8216;Pink Moon&#8217;<\/em> arrives later in the year.<\/p>\n<h3>A Day To Remember and Bowling For Soup Surprise Releases<\/h3>\n<p>Both\u00a0<strong>A Day To Remember<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Bowling For Soup<\/strong> are releasing new albums on short notice.\u00a0<em>&#8216;Big Ole Album Vol. 1&#8217;\u00a0<\/em>(by\u00a0<strong>A Day To Remember<\/strong>) is being given a &#8220;physical-first&#8221; release ahead of a digital release next month. It&#8217;s considerably an opportunity to correct wrongs that 2021&#8217;s <em>&#8216;You&#8217;re Welcome&#8217;<\/em> provided. On early listens, it&#8217;s the sound of a band revitalised, hungry to prove a point. It swings back and forth between the reliable heavy pop-punk hooks and crushing breakdowns.<\/p>\n<p>As for\u00a0<strong>Bowling For Soup<\/strong>,\u00a0<em>&#8216;Stoked on Trent&#8217;<\/em> documents their 2022 live acoustic tour. While certainly a release for the diehards, it&#8217;s a welcomed palate cleanser following recent UK tour,<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Amongst this week&#8217;s other noteworthy releases, there is new music\u00a0<span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">from<\/span><strong> ONE OK ROCK<\/strong> who aim to deliver an abundance of powerful rock with <em>&#8216;DETOX&#8217;<\/em>. While admittedly\u00a0<strong>Sam Fender <\/strong>isn&#8217;t someone I&#8217;d normally mention on a site like ours. However, I&#8217;m sure his brand of stadium-bothering heartland rock will appeal to some. German duo\u00a0<strong>The Deadnotes\u00a0<\/strong>return with\u00a0<em>&#8216;Rock &#8216;n&#8217; Roll Saviour&#8217;\u00a0<\/em>and sees them embrace their power-pop sensibilities.<\/p>\n<p>On the heavier side of things,\u00a0<strong>The Dark<\/strong>&#8216;s self-titled EP sees Alan Ashby step away from Of Mice and Men to flex his industrial rock muscles. Whereas the reformed\u00a0<strong>God Complex<\/strong> look to pummel us into submission with their comeback EP &#8211; <em>&#8216;He Watches In Silence&#8217;<\/em>.
