Canadian favourites\u00a0PUP<\/strong> continue to preview their upcoming\u00a0\u2018Who Will Look After The Dogs?’<\/em> <\/a>LP ahead of its May 2nd release. The third track to be previewed,\u00a0‘Get Dumber’,<\/em> sees them collaborate with long-time friend Jeff Rosenstock<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The track is another ripper of bulging punk, with\u00a0Rosenstock\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0PUP<\/strong>‘s Stefan Babcock’s vocals brilliantly bouncing<\/span> off one another. The track was formed in Jeff’s basement when Stefan was house-sitting for him while he (Rosenstock<\/strong><\/span>) was on tour.<\/p>\n

“I recorded the first demo for it on his guitar using his mics and his computer. Maybe because the ghost of Jeff was in the room with me, I always imagined our voices on this song together, so I was very happy when he agreed to sing on it,”<\/em> Stefan explains.<\/p>\n

While Rosenstock<\/strong> and Babcock could’ve recorded their parts individually and pieced together,\u00a0‘Get Dumber’<\/em> benefits from the pair recording face to face. It adds to the relentless energy of the track, even if Jeff messed up on the first take.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe recorded the vocals together, in the same room, facing each other. What that means is, we both had to nail it at the same time because we couldn\u2019t really cut between takes. On the first take, he forgot a line in the second verse and said \u201cahhhhhh, lyrics\u201d instead. I couldn\u2019t finish the take because I was laughing too hard,” <\/em>shares Babcock. “Anyway, he practiced singing the correct lyrics but then <\/em>we decided those lyrics kinda sucked and he should just stick to \u201cahhhh lyrics\u201d because it\u2019s funny and the song is called ‘Get Dumber’. We nailed it on the second take.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
