Last month, Michigan emo-punk group Charmer\u00a0<\/strong>announced plans to release a new album<\/a>,\u00a0‘Downpour,’\u00a0<\/em>through Counter Intuitive Records<\/strong> on May 23rd. Today, they’ve shared its second single – ‘Blue Jay’<\/em>.<\/p>\n

It sees the quintet produce another punchy number executed with emotional weight. It sees\u00a0Charmer\u00a0<\/strong>vocalist\/guitarist David Daignault reflect on a life-changing decision and wonders if he made the right call.\u00a0“It\u2019s about a specific day that completely shifted my life\u2019s direction. If that day never happened, I\u2019d be living in a different reality. I still don\u2019t know if it was a good thing or not, but maybe I\u2019ll figure it out in the next 60 years,\u201d<\/em> says David.<\/p>\n

It highlights\u00a0Charmer<\/strong>‘s evolution as songwriters. Their 2018 self-titled debut saw them sing about absent college love interests, ‘Blue Jay’<\/em>, and\u00a0‘Downpour’\u00a0<\/em>as a whole, go deeper exploring themes such as adulthood, grief, and healing.\u00a0‘Blue Jay’<\/em> pairs this with pensive urgency and melodic grit.<\/p>\n
