Coinciding with the release of their debut album, ‘Glitter’, this sextet noise collective delivers a raucous offering from it.

Treading the fine line between post-punk and post-hardcore, ‘Rhinestone Cowboy’ is merely a snapshot of Knives‘ ability. With an ethos based on inclusivity, diversity, and empowerment within the alternative scene, they came together three years ago through diverse backgrounds. It seeps through ‘Glitter,’ as they rampage and bounce through with flashes of experimental jazz and alt-rock acumen.

‘Rhinestone Cowboy’ elevates their controlled chaos through guitarists Dan Farren and Josh Cook’s stabbing distortion, Erin Cook’s penetrative drums, and Jay Schottlander’s post-punk barking. If anything, it showcases why Knives are exciting rookies within the UK’s alternative music scene.

‘Glitter’ by Knives is out now on Marshall Records.

Newish Music Playlist Update

Hear all of this week’s choices and more through our ‘Newish Music’ playlist.
