Indie\/emo favourites\u00a0Lakes<\/strong> are preparing for an eventful summer, which includes the release of their fourth album,\u00a0‘Slow Fade’<\/em><\/a>, and shows supporting\u00a0The Get Up Kids<\/strong>. The Watford-based outfit has shared another track from the record, ‘ <\/span>Hypernow’<\/em>.<\/p>\n

It sees vocalist\/keys player Cat Rowland take the lead, stamping her mark with authority as her bandmates deliver a plucky, twinkling sound. Joined by vocalist\/guitarist Roberto Cappellina,\u00a0‘Hypernow’<\/em> maintains\u00a0Lakes<\/strong>‘ delicate and subtly pensive tone. For Cappellina, he says the track is “about not being present and thinking about the band ALL the time.”<\/em><\/p>\n

With the band’s DIY work ethic,\u00a0‘Hypernow’<\/em> sees Lakes<\/strong>‘ Roberto Cappellina reflect on how his determination has taken his focus away from other matters. “It\u2019s one of those where I wasn\u2019t really sure what it meant until after we\u2019d tracked it,”<\/em> Roberto shares. “I definitely carry a lot of guilt for not thinking twice about missing a birthday or a wedding for years on end, and I think at some point it\u2019s put a strain on all of our relationships.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Ahead of\u00a0‘Slow Fade’<\/em>s release on July 4th via the band’s own label, Lucky Art<\/strong>, (in collaboration with UK indie label Big Scary Monsters<\/strong>),\u00a0Lakes<\/strong> will be\u00a0supporting emo legends The Get Up Kids<\/strong>. They will be joining the band as they celebrate 25 years of seminal record, ‘Something To Write Home About’<\/em>.<\/p>\n
