Emo\/pop-punk outfit Hot Mulligan<\/b> have announced their fourth full-length album. Titled ‘The Sound a Body Makes When It\u2019s Still’<\/i>, it will be released through Wax Bodega<\/b> on August 22nd.<\/p>\n
Described as the quintet’s “most cohesive album yet”<\/em>, its sixteen songs look to address personal and relatable fears, scream\u00a0“unfiltered vulnerabilities”,<\/em> and find solace in existing in the present. As always, Hot Mulligan\u00a0<\/strong>finds the right balance between sincerity and humour.<\/p>\n Commenting on the album’s title, co-vocalist Tade Sanville said it’s a lyrical reference. “That lyric is in a song about paranoia, which is fear. With the album title, you can go the meditation route, or, the horror that you are in your body, and you have to exist. You have no choice, really. Even if you plan on killing yourself, right now you exist. And that is a terrifying thing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The announcement of ‘The Sound a Body Makes When It\u2019s Still’\u00a0<\/em>also sees the release of its first single.\u00a0‘And a Big Load’\u00a0<\/em>is a punchy blast of self-loathing emotional pop-punk.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s the consequences of your own actions. You could face them; you could avoid them entirely,\u201d<\/em> shares co-vocalist and guitarist Chris Freeman when discussing the cycle of hopelessness of the track. \u201cOur biggest conflicts and struggles are often self-inflicted. Drink too much? Hangover. What did you say last night? Apologize\u2026 or don\u2019t. You could commit suicide instead. You could commit to being sober. You could commit to drinking one million beers. At the end of the day, it\u2019ll all be left for you to deal with.
