Progressive metalcore outfit\u00a0Between the Buried and Me<\/strong> are preparing to release their new album,\u00a0‘The Blue Nowhere<\/a>\u2019 <\/em>on September 12th <\/em>via InsideOutMusic<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/em>Today, the North Carolina-based group shared its second single –\u00a0‘Absent Thereafter’<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Described by vocalist\/keyboardist Tommy Rogers as a\u00a0“quintessential BTBAM song,”\u00a0<\/em>The 10-minute-long track considerably sees the quartet at their most dynamic, taking turns at every available corner. Rogers adds that the track is “fun, intense, spacy, and still fucking heavy.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Bassist Dan Briggs elaborates on the musicality of the single, sharing \u00a0‘Absent Thereafter’ “moves arrangement-wise in two parts divided by a key change and tonal shift of the chorus.”\u00a0<\/em>He also mentions that the track has the\u00a0“bombastic energy of a Van Halen shuffle with Huey Lewis and the News horns”<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Both Rogers and Briggs aren’t wrong, as the first portion of the track is a riff-heavy ride with progressive undertones. The tempo turns towards a country rock vibe before diving headfirst into Rogers’s roaring vocals. While dizzying syncopated rhythms are scattered throughout. It’s topped off with a blast of Las Vegas-esque showmanship.<\/p>\n

Between the Buried and Me<\/strong> will precede the release of \u2018The Blue Nowhere\u2019<\/em>\u00a0with two sets at\u00a0ArcTanGent<\/strong>\u00a0in August. The first on Friday, August 15th will see them perform their 2007 record,\u00a0\u2018Colors\u2019<\/em>\u00a0in full. On the following day, they will be performing on the main stage alongside\u00a0Rolo Tomassi<\/strong>,\u00a0Clown Core<\/strong>, and\u00a0TesseracT<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
