As the world continues to mourn the passing<\/a> of the cultural legend that was Ozzy Osbourne<\/strong> (and to a lesser extent, Hulk Hogan), a new round of\u00a0#NewMusicFriday\u00a0<\/strong>releases has arrived.<\/p>\n

I’ve also written extensively about\u00a0‘The Lash,’<\/em> the new album from\u00a0The Dirty Nil<\/strong>. They are as reliable as ever, albeit stripping back the colour and flair in favour of introspective songwriting. Another release I want to recommend comes from Belgian quartet\u00a0Hemelbestormer<\/strong>.\u00a0‘The Radiant Veil’<\/em> is a sonic exploration of post-rock, doomgaze, and black metal that sees them fit right at home on\u00a0Pelagic<\/strong> Records<\/strong>. Meanwhile, longtime\u00a0Already Heard<\/strong> favourite,\u00a0Brightr<\/strong>, delivers his latest collection of acoustic emo-pop songs.\u00a0‘Year Two’<\/em> sees Laurie Cottingham as vulnerable and frank as ever, combining his open songwriting with heartfelt hooks.<\/p>\n

This week also consists of several solo outings.\u00a0Iron Maiden<\/strong>‘s\u00a0Bruce Dickinson<\/strong> revisits his 1994 solo album,\u00a0‘Balls To Picasso’<\/em>. Now called\u00a0‘More Balls To Picasso,’<\/em> it sees the album remastered with new guitars, orchestral arrangements, and two new studio recordings. Michael Clifford from Aussie\u00a0pop-rockers 5<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Seconds of Summer<\/strong> delivers his solo debut, ‘Sidequest.’ <\/em>Former\u00a0Anberlin<\/strong> frontman Stephen Christian revives his Anchor & Braille<\/strong> project with ‘New Mexico’<\/em>. Meanwhile, Narrow Head<\/strong> vocalist Jacob Duarte steps away from shoegaze rockers with his solo project,\u00a0Nihilistic Easyrider<\/strong>. The misleadingly named\u00a0‘Deluxe Edition’<\/em> sees Duarte delve into a decade-long book of songs, exploring power-pop, 90s alt-rock, pop-punk, and Y2K emo.<\/p>\n

There are also releases from GWAR<\/strong>. The Band CAMINO<\/strong>,\u00a0Boneflower<\/strong>,\u00a0Naethan Apollo<\/strong>,\u00a0Lowdown<\/strong>,\u00a0Tokyo Rose<\/strong>, and more.<\/p>\n
