The Amity Affliction have returned with their first new music of the year with ‘All That I Remember’. It showcases the Australian metalcore outfit delivering a brutal yet emotional number. The track also marks the debut of Jonny Reeves (Kingdom of Giants) on clean vocals. He replaces Ahren Stringer, who departed the band earlier this year.

Nevertheless, heavy vocalist Joel Birch uses the track to maintain the band’s ability to explore the complexities of the human condition. On ‘All That I Remember’, Birch recollects a fractured relationship with a parent. “My mother knew only abuse and isolation, even in death as she cut her own children off; she died as she lived, paranoid and alone,“ explains The Amity Affliction frontman. His brother, Beau, and sister, Chanel, have also shared their thoughts on the track.

“Time and again, our mother showed us that she would put herself first, and use life’s pain to justify her actions of self-interest, while we were left to fend for ourselves,” states Beau. While Chanel reflects on the competitive environment her late mother created, saying, “This song reminds me how she would pit us against each other constantly, so much so I feel like my relationship with my brothers only grew after she was gone. When I was young, I couldn’t see it, I didn’t understand the manipulation until years had passed, and I crossed oceans to breathe.”

The Amity Affliction will make a return to the UK in October, when they support Parkway Drive alongside Thy Art Is Murder for an Aussie bill.
