Last October, we shared a track called ‘Brother’ from up-and-coming New Jersey band Flycatcher. The poignant track showed that they were a band to watch. Today, they have shared details of their new album, ‘Wrench’.
Due for release on October 24th, it sees vocalist/guitarist Greg Pease, guitarist Justin VanNiekerk, bassist Jack Delle Cava, and new drummer Matteo DeBenedetti work with renowned producer Will Yip. The album will be released through his Memory Music label.
The announcement of ‘Wrench’ coincides with the release of a new track called ‘Truth’. The energetic track highlights Flycatcher‘s blend of emotional urgency and assured twangy indie rock. “This song touches on the decision between holding onto something even tighter, or letting go when you feel it start to slip,” says Pease on what is considered ‘Wrench’ s emotional centrepiece. “In many ways, this was the missing piece for the album, and I don’t think any of us can imagine this record without it.”
Since forming in 2017, Flycatcher have been honing their emotive brand of indie rock through various singles and EPs. 2023’s ‘Stunt’ EP highlighted their ability to pair gut-punching songwriting with anthemic melodies. This past July saw them release an acoustic reworking of the same EP. Now with ‘Wrench’ on the horizon, they’re building momentum with a stirring new collection of songs.
