Yorkshire group Marmozets have spent the past few months teasing a return. Today, they revealed their first track in seven years – ‘A Kiss From A Mother’.
Surging with renewed hunger, it sees the track proves to be a firecracker of a return. With Becca Bottomley’s (née Macintyre) soaring vocals at its core, it has hints of psychobilly punks The Cramps in its galloping drums, with a touch of mariachi.
“The message of the song is to make sure you listen, rather than just shoot straight back. Probably everyone can relate to the idea of not letting some advice go in one ear and out the other, let it actually immerse in you,” shares Marmozets‘ vocalist. “As for my voice, that’s just my spirit coming out! I’m not playing a character; I’m giving it all that I’ve got.”
Since releasing their second album, ‘Knowing What You Know Now,’ in 2018, Becca and guitarist Jack Bottomley got married and started a family. An impromptu session between the couple led to guitarist Sam Macintyre and drummer Josh Macintyre coming on board, leading to work on their forthcoming third album. Will Bottomley has amicably parted ways, with Sam taking over his role on bass.
They will make their live return next month, before playing more UK dates in the New Year.
