Papa Roach Return with ‘Wake Up Calling’
Papa Roach have made their return with a single called ‘Wake Up Calling’. The powerful track channels the stirring emotion of classic Papa Roach tracks such as ‘Scars’ and ‘Leave A Light On (Talk Away The Dark)’.
“’Wake Up Calling’ is a song about standing on the edge of disaster – being pulled back from the brink, and ultimately choosing love over self-destruction. It’s one of the most raw, emotional songs we’ve written,” frontman Jacoby Shaddix said.
Hear Motionless In White’s New Single (‘Afraid of the Dark’)
Ahead of their UK tour kicking off next week, Motionless In White have debuted a new track called ‘Afraid of the Dark’.
The anthemic metal track aims to connect MIW’s past, present, and future, with its metallic bite and electronic flourishes.
Its release, as well as the UK tour, comes as the band celebrate their 20th anniversary. For vocalist Chris Motionless, ‘Afraid of the Dark’ reflects the band’s perseverance. Recalling a time when the band’s van broke down in a snowstorm on their first tour, Chris recalls, “We had to sleep on the floor of a rest stop on the side of the Interstate and wait what felt like forever for a tow truck. We were forced to cancel the first few shows of our first tour ever, and to figure out how to scrape up every cent we could to try and get the van fixed and get back on the road. Nothing was ever going to stop us. There was never a doubt that we would find a way to live out our biggest dream and set a precedent for anything standing in our way.”
He continues, “On our 20-year anniversary, that spirit is burning just as hot as it was on that day. We refuse to settle, refuse to let any opposing force stop us from clawing our way up from hell, and we refuse to fear the dark of the unknown. I want the story of MIW to inspire anyone listening to not fear the unknown, but to run headfirst into it with everything they’ve got. This song is about taking control of your destiny and writing the script of your own future without any doubt or apprehension. For those of you who have been with us for any part of the last 20 years, this one is for you. If you mean it, you will make it.”
Motionless In White‘s UK tour kicks off in Glasgow on February 5th, before heading to Nottingham (6th), Manchester (7th), Dublin (10th), Cardiff (13th), and London (14th). Support comes from Dayseeker and Make Them Suffer.
Voyager Set to Make Long-Awaited UK Return
Aussie prog rockers Voyager have announced a one-off UK headline show. The ‘Through the Storms and Stars’ evening with… show will take place at London’s Islington Assembly Hall on July 31st.
Alongside a festival appearance at the RADAR Festival on 2nd August, it will be Voyager‘s first UK dates since the band stopped touring due to frontman Danny Estrin’s two-year battle with terminal cancer. The visit to Europe will also see a ‘Through the Storms and Stars’ date in the Netherlands.
“Every show I get to play with Voyager from now on is so special,” says Estrin. “To be able to do something so intimate and interactive as these two concerts is not only a celebration of music, but also a beautiful opportunity to share stories, laughs and tears with our amazing fans.”
Furthermore, last year’s comeback show, ‘Voyager By Night – Live at Magnet House’, can be viewed in full below.
Love Rarely Announces Debut Album and Shares New Single
Hybrid alt-rockers Love Rarely have set a release date of April 10th for their debut album. It’s titled ‘Pain Travels’ will be released through Big Scary Monsters.
The Leeds-based outfit have also shared its first single, ‘Will’. With its off-kilter guitar work and emotional outbursts, it exemplifies Love Rarely‘s blend of math rock, emo, and hardcore brilliantly.
As for ‘Pain Travels’, the album takes on themes such as growth, survival, and creative transformation, channelling individual pain into bigger. “‘Pain Travels’ takes you on a journey of attempting to cope with life when you might not have been dealt the best hand,” guitarist Dan Dewsnap explains. “It ended up being a deeper and darker record than we initially thought it would be, but that speaks to the authenticity on show. There’s a lot of positivity too. We’re basically saying things have been tough, but it’s going to be okay.”
“It’s been an ongoing battle that’s sort of progressed along with the album, which has been very difficult to try and navigate for Courtney (Levitt – vocals). It felt extremely cathartic to know that in this one song, she was able to say what she needed to say about this subject”
Love Rarely will be supporting The Callous Daoboys on their UK tour next month, before playing several festivals in the summer.
Hear The Maine’s New Single (‘Die To Fall’)
With their tenth album, ‘Joy Next Door,’ set to be released on April 10th, The Maine has shared its first single, ‘Die To Fall’.
“I suppose it’s only fitting that our tenth album has been one of the toughest to make to date,” vocalist John O’Callaghan says of the upcoming album. “Most of the personal friction I’ve felt during the making of this record has derived from having to face my own struggle with feeling like I have everything I could have ever dreamed of, yet I can’t seem to allow myself to be fully present and appreciate the weight of a very fortunate life.”
When discussing ‘Die To Fall,’ O’Callaghan states “[It] is a dialogue with myself about the desire to let go. Let go of my insecurities, my ego, my worries, let go of “me” for even just a second and truly feel the gravity of all the little moments we can often take for granted. If none of the above resonates, then at the very least, it’s a song to rage to.”
Against The Current Announce Intimate 15th Anniversary London Show
Pop-rock trio Against The Current will play a one-off show at The Garage in London on March 10th. The intimate show is part a run of worldwide dates to mark the band’s 15th anniversary.
“It’s wild to even say it out loud, but it’s been 15 years of Against The Current. We wanted to celebrate in the kinds of rooms we had some of those first surreal moments in, reliving it with the fans who were there and the ones who may have found us later,” says Chrissy Costanza. “This band changed our lives, and we’re so grateful to everyone who’s been with us through it all. This has been the longest gap without an ATC show in our career, and we can’t wait to be back together with everyone.”
Uncultivates Preview New Album with ‘Dread First’
Southern (Ireland) Texas mathy post-hardcore mob Uncultivates continue to preview their debut album. With ‘This Will Become Clear Later, Like The French Revolution’ set to be released on February 6th, they’ve shared a track called ‘Dread First’.
“‘Dread First,’ the third single, is about being trapped at home while sick and letting the dread fester,” Uncultivates shared. “Don’t let the spoonerism mislead you, there’s nothing nu-metal here. You can try and distract yourself but it’s always dread first.”
