As Everything Unfolds Previews New Album with ‘Denial’

As they prepare to release their new album, ‘DID YOU ASK TO BE SET FREE?’ next month, As Everything Unfolds have shared its latest single, ‘Denial’.

The solid track proves to be an emotionally-charged number, highlighting the quartet’s use of towering melodies and metallic bite.

“Denial is the hardest thing to watch someone go through,” shares Charlie Rolfe. “You can say or do nothing that will make them realise the horrible situation they’re in, you see small moments of clarity where they’re screaming out for help but they fall back into denial. It’s their closest friend, their comfort. I found it the hardest phase to watch someone in addiction recovery go through, their disregard for your emotional and physical wellbeing, your feelings don’t even come into their mind, no matter how much you try to sympathise and say that you understand the pain they’re going through, it’s never enough to convince them that they’re not alone & their own destructive misery feels like they find joy in inflicting pain upon others, they feel better spreading their pain rather than facing it.”

‘DID YOU ASK TO BE SET FREE?’ will be released on April 10th via Century Media

Pop-Metal Up-and-Comers Since 2000 Set to Release New EP

Rising Glasgow pop-metallers Since 2000 have confirmed they will release a new EP, ‘neverland [CHAPTER II]’ on April 24th. It will be released through their label home of Easy Life Records.

As its title suggests, the EP is the second and final chapter of Since 2000‘s ‘neverland’ series. “This project continues the coming-of-age story which began with ‘chapter I’, this time diving deeper into the internal struggles of navigating the loss of innocence, healing from trauma and coming to terms with your own shadow-self. As a result, we’ve created our darkest, heaviest and most impactful body of work so far,” explains vocalist Dan Romano.

As a sneak preview, the quartet have teamed up with Lo Rays for a track called ‘HELLelujah!’. With its mix of metallic blasts and euphoric electronica, the energetic track lyrically confronts mob mentality and moral distortion. “‘HELLelujah!’ serves as a grim reckoning of the current social and political climate we are all experiencing,” Romano shared. “We are witnesses on a daily basis to atrocities happening in front of our eyes and screens but we turn against each other based on partisan beliefs and widespread mob rule which impede us from taking meaningful action, as we continue toeing the party lines. All meanwhile powerful oppressive forces continue to commit crimes against humanity in the name of moral and religious righteousness, HELLelujah! represents this distortion of sanctity.”

Yakkie Release “Pay What You Want” Single to Mark International Women’s Day

To coincide with International Women’s Day, London-based feminist punks YAKKIE have shared their call-to-strike anthem ‘Lean Out’ as a “pay what you want” via Bandcamp.

All money raised will be donated to striking teaching assistants at Richard Cobden school in North London.

“‘Lean Out’ is a call for all women to go on strike to demand better conditions at work and in their lives. It’s women’s care and nurture that keeps the wheels of society turning, but that’s not recognised or paid,” states vocalist Janey Starling. “Teaching assistants play a vital role in supporting children at school – they have a right to job security and good pay.”

“This is a song about flipping tables instead of sitting at them. We wrote this song when we realised that the ‘theme’ for International Women’s Day is determined every year by a private consultancy. The origins of International Women’s Day are in women’s struggle for labour rights after a factory fire in 1911 in New York killed over a hundred women and girls, but capitalism and the cult of the individual have tried to steal our feminist history and our power from us. It’s time to wrest it back by going on strike.”

‘Lean Out’ also appears on YAKKIE‘s recently released album, ‘Kill The Cop Inside Your Head’.

Palette Knife Drop New Single (‘Mimic’)

With their blend of early 2000’s pop punk chorus catchiness and math rock breakdowns, Palette Knife continue to show they’re an emo name to watch out. Today, the Ohio trio shared ‘Mimic’ from their upcoming album, ‘Keyframe’.

“This song is about going to a party. I was having a bad mental health day, and upon my arrival I somehow convinced myself I wasn’t wanted at the party—peering through the windows from the outside,” commented Palette Knife vocalist/guitarist Alec Licata. “I drove home feeling like I didn’t have the energy to put on a happy face but luckily one of my close friends called me asking me where I was, and this motivated me to turn the car around.”
