The Amity Affliction Announce New Album (‘House of Cards’)

On April 24th, The Amity Affliction will start a new chapter with the release of their new album, ‘House of Cards’.

The album promises to be rooted in TAA‘s DNA with vocalist Joel Birch’s signature fusion of intense and open lyricism being paired up with heavy dynamism. On the lyrical front, its narrative sees Birch’s mother become a central figure. The album’s title track, which you can hear below, sees Birch taking stock of his difficult relationship (and his siblings) with their mother.

“Our mother died in 2024 and none of us had a healthy relationship with her. She was very self-involved, aggressive and abusive in our early years and in her later years, spent a good amount of time trying to put a wedge between the three of us,” The Amity Affliction’s frontman shared. “Thankfully, once she passed, the three of us actually became closer as we realised we had individual but shared trauma related to her.”

‘House of Cards’ is the first album to include clean vocalist (and guitarist) Jonny Reeves, who joined the band last year.
