#NewMusicFriday: December 5th 2025

Although many will be sharing their ‘Spotify Wrapped’ or ‘Apple Music Replay’ to whoever wants to know, that doesn’t mean there is no new music for the final weeks of 2025.

Sure, this week continues the trend of live releases, thanks to TesseracT, and Long Distance Calling; however, there are a couple EP’s that are worth checking out.

The first of these comes from reinvigorated shoegaze quartet Lemondaze‘subtext’ is their first EP in four years and is a blissful 24-minute outing that sonically evolves their ethereal sound. Tracks such as ‘polari’ and ‘Gravemind’ swirl with layers of harmonious reverb, only for Finn Fox’s drums to penetrate through the musical haze. Moments like ‘c=bain’ and ‘o(type)’ prove to be alluring and immersive, gently drawing you with their pensive delivery. Whereas EP closer, ‘Terra’ demonstrates Lemondaze‘s ability to utilise noise, shifting between quiet and loud textures with ease. Overall, ‘subtext’ makes for a welcome return for Lemondaze as they have found the right balance between atmosphere and urgency, without sounding forced.

New Jersey trio Jamurai Sack are a band that will appeal to the fans of Ben Quad and Modern Baseball as their new EP, ‘Anagapesis’, is an emotionally raw collection with flashes of indie and math rock. Over the course of its six songs, frontman Greg Denner paints a vivid narrative of falling in and out of love. It’s followed by moments of personal growth. Whether that be on the jangly sharpness of ‘Once Upon a Time’ or ‘I’ve Never Met A Working Title With A Job’ and its math-y Midwest emo flourishes. When put together, Jamurai Sack creates an arc that is threaded with emotion; love, hurt, doubt, and regret.

Today also sees new EPs from Meet Me @ The Altar and Profiler. The former sees Meet Me @ The Altar reemerge as a duo with ‘Worried Sick’, indicating a return to their former heavy pop-punk (or “easycore”) sound with the bold hooks intact. Meanwhile, Profiler continue to represent the new wave of nu-metal on ‘Masquerading Self’. The six-song outing aims to carve out a distinct identity for the UK group, one that is heavier and blurs genre boundaries. For the most part, it’s achieved. Previous singles, ‘Waste’ and ‘Luciferian’ are bold and ride on infectious grooves. ‘Upgrade’ is a gritty, grunge-esque adrenaline rush before ‘888’ serves as an explosive finale that allows Profiler to leave their stamp.

There are also releases from Say Anything, Northlane, Beans on Toast, Hell Comes Home, Kakihara, Insurgent, Silent Child, False Tracks, and more. Furthermore, Sigur Rós and Celeste reissue past releases.
