#NewMusicFriday: February 27th 2026

After a slight break (sorry, I’ve been ill), our #NewMusicFriday round-up has returned.

Today sees horror film maker and rock legend Rob Zombie return with a new album, ‘The Great Satan’. Alt/shoegaze specialists NOTHING deliver a reflective collection in the form of ‘a short history of decay’. Ferocious metalcore/hardcore mob Varials unleash ‘Where The Light Leaves’.

If you’re looking for some theatrical metalcore with some intriguing world-building, then look no further than ‘Royal Discordance’ by The Gloom In The Corner. ‘The Beast Goes On’ by Atlanta’s Starbenders sees them add oody alt-pop, and raw, cinematic energyto their brand of synth-rock. Meanwhile, leading synthwave artist Carpenter Brut returns with ‘Leather Temple’.

I also have to give a special mention to Brighton-based trio, Matador. Their new album, ‘Above, Below and So,’ is an immersive brand of post-metal, weaving in atmospheric doom.

There are also releases from the likes of Shelf Lives, Arm’s Length, Crooked Fingers, Paerish, Autumn Fires, Phoenix Lake, and more.
