#NewMusicFriday- March 27th 2026

The final #NewMusicFriday of the month is a hectic one with over 40 releases picked out and listed. As you can imagine, several notable albums are worth giving some love to.

Besides the exceptional releases from Tigers Jaw and Mallavora, today sees London-based outfit Wildernesses release their debut album. ‘Growth’ sees the quartet entice you with a mix of stunning post-rock and timid indie folk, with vocalist Phillip Morris’ storytelling resonating at its comforting core. From ‘Sleepless’, the soaring instrumental introduction through to ‘Four Hour Drive’s towering guitars and cascading percussion, to ‘Summertime, 1917’ brushstrokes and twinkling finale, Wildernesses‘ arrival shouldn’t be ignored. In between, there is a steeliness to ‘English Darkness’ and a brooding weight that haunts ‘Maintenance’.

‘death fetish,’ the new album from Moodring captures the project’s evolution. After being diagnosed with a rare neuro-immune condition in 2022, the project has regressed to being an outlet for Hunter Young. His determination and frustrations are poured out on Moodring‘s second full-length. Musically, it evolves from the Deftones-like ‘Stargazer’, to something that is cold, industrious, and at times, violent. Moments such as ‘Gunplay (Suicdal 3way)’ and ‘anywhere but here’ are bleak, even uncomfortable. Whereas ‘masochist machine’ thrives on Young’s unhinged energy and cathartic release. Through its grit and darkness, Moodring continues to be an immersive name among the alt-metal pack.

For Free Throw vocalist/guitarist Cory Castro, the band’s sixth album, ‘Moments Before the Wind,’ allows him to observe a period of transition. The emo outfit is as honest as ever, with Castro reflecting on the end of a long-term relationship and impending fatherhood. The quintet’s brand of emo rock continues to be assuredly delivered, allowing its 11 tracks to be executed with a sense of familiarity. When paired with Castro’s wiser songwriting, it’s a comfortable outing for the Nashville-based band.

Among today’s lengthy list of releases, you can hear new albums from Don Broco, Black Label Society, and Pet Needs. There is also new music from metalcore monsters Chamber, eclectic German electro-metalcore band Samurai Pizza Cats, Canadian pop-punks The July Crowd, and many more.
