Twin Atlantic Return with ‘Don’t Quit It’

Twin Atlantic have returned with ‘Don’t Quit It’, their first new single to feature all four founding members together in three albums.

Leaning in an alt-pop direction, the track struts with confidence and lyrical perseverance. Sam McTrusty, Ross McNae, Barry McKenna and Craig Kneale reunite on the recording, which doubles as a tribute to the Scotland national football team ahead of this year’s FIFA World Cup.

“It’s about not being able to quit something, or someone, that no matter how much it hurts or drags you down, or disappoints or frustrates you sometimes, you can’t help but love it and need it. It’s accepting that it’s a part of you and without it you’d be less and so it’s worth the perseverance. I wanted to shine a big spotlight on that experience and make a big bold fun rock song, hands in the air, let go of the pretense, take off your seat belt, and feel the fun.” says frontman Sam McTrusty.

Twin Atlantic will be playing several UK dates throughout the summer, including a run of shows supporting McFly.

Boston Manor Confirm ‘Be Nothing.’ 10th Anniversary Release & UK Dates

Boston Manor are planning a full celebration of their debut album, ‘Be Nothing.’, a decade on from its original release. Fresh from performing the record in full at Slam Dunk Festival this past weekend, the band have confirmed a 10th anniversary edition via Pure Noise Records, due August 14th.

The release will include the original album alongside a handful of acoustic cuts, among them ‘Lead Feet’, which can be heard below.

“For me; writing and recording ‘Be Nothing.’ was one of the most exciting things we had done at that time. Doing the ‘band thing’ for many years previous to Boston Manor, I’d always wanted to be involved in writing a full length record but never had the opportunity to do it properly. So by the time the opportunity came round, I felt like we were all hyper focused on what we wanted to achieve and also keeping in mind what this record would sound like in 10 years from that point. That being said; I think we achieved our goals with ‘Be Nothing.’ because I believe this record holds up even today 10 years on. The record did more than we thought it would do for us. It opened up so many doors, especially in the touring world. Having the opportunity to travel all around the world because of one record is pretty insane!” says bassist Dan Cunniff.

Boston Manor will also be playing four ‘Be Nothing.’ album shows across Manchester and London in December.

Daydream Plus Announces Debut Album (‘Second Last Day of Summer’)

Daydream Plus, the alter ego project of death metal band Tomb Mold, will release their debut album, ‘Second Last Day of Summer’, through Run For Cover Records on July 10th.

Across 12 tracks, the trio trade their hyper-aggressive sound for something more melodic. New single ‘Speed Limit’ blends instrumental math rock and jazz with a strong influence of video game soundtracks and anime scores, resulting in a lush, immersive sound that promises to build an “elaborate fantasy world”.

The album features guest appearances from American Football‘s Steve Lamos, Joseph Shabason (Destroyer and The War on Drugs), and Ryo Kishimoto (Fox Capture Plan). It is also being released on a limited NES-compatible cartridge: Daydream Plus have teamed up with Batlab Electronics to create a chiptune version of the record, titled ‘Extended Forecast’, available exclusively through that format.

‘Stimpy’ is their first release to include vocals, spanning six tracks. Lead single ‘Trixie’ is a raw demonstration of their self-described “math pop” sound, blending soaring melodies with a gritty, metallic hardcore punk energy.
