Bury Tomorrow Launch Record Label and Share New Single

Southampton metalcore group Bury Tomorrow have started a new chapter by launching their own record label, Dea†h Records. The independent imprint allows the sextet to take full control of their future output.

To coincide with the news, they’ve shared a track called ‘Sx’. Short for Symptom, the track is an example of Bury Tomorrow‘s explosive capabilities. Lyrically, the track explores the complexities of the human experience, the daily struggle of coping with certainty and doubt.

“Sx is the perfect way to introduce this new chapter. It’s about grappling with the good and the bad every day, realising that none of us are entirely one thing or another. Life exists in shades, not absolutes, and we all carry bones we bury deep,” shares vocalist Dani Winter-Bates.

The Menzingers Share ‘Everything I Ever Saw’ Title Track

With just a matter of days until they release their eighth studio album, ‘Everything I Ever Saw’, The Menzingers have shared its title track.

As the album closer, ‘Everything I Ever Saw’ highlights the optimism threaded throughout the album. It also puts emphasis on the idea of living in the here and now.

“The album’s about living in the present, especially during life’s big moments. As musicians in a touring band, we’re constantly looking towards the next thing. I felt like I had been living my life like that for a very long time. Then ‘Everything I Ever Saw’ just clicked. It tied in with all the other songs about being here in the moment and being there for the people that need you. The answer was right in front of us all along,” guitarist/vocalist Greg Barnett told Rolling Stone. “People have described us as a very nostalgic band. It’s funny because I never saw it that way, it was more so about looking at the past for the answers to the things that you’re trying to understand now. That’s how I feel like our songwriting has always gone. The chorus, ‘I don’t want to relive, I just want to remember everything I ever saw’ sums that bit up. I want to remember all of this and use it in the future to appreciate my life.”

Ceremony Previews New Album with ‘Dark Summer’

Californian punk/post-punk outfit Ceremony are preparing to release ‘Tell Me Your Dream’, their first album in seven years, on August 7th. As a preview, they’ve shared a new track called ‘Dark Summer’.

The track takes the form of a jangly post-punk number, with Ross Farrar delivering wise words, providing a rumination between the darkness and the light.

“In Rock ‘n Roll music, feedback occurs when a guitar is purposely moved too close to an amplifier, like a dark summer, when dread finds you amid brilliant sunshine, it feels disorienting, confusing, and chaotic,” says Farrar on the track. “What you’re left with is malaise, doldrums of sorts that are both beautiful and terrifying.”

Noctule Details Second Album and Shares New Single

Noctule, the solo project of Serena Cherry (formerly of Svalbard), has confirmed she will be releasing a second album. The record is titled ‘Extinguish Thy Flame’ and will be self-released on September 25th.

While her 2021 record, ‘Wretched Abyss’, was inspired by the ‘The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’ video game, ‘Extinguish Thy Flame’ is about another game, ‘Elden Ring’. “Whenever I truly fall in love with a video game, it ignites a creative fire inside me that makes me want to write songs about the game. Video games are such a deep source of inspiration for me. ‘Elden Ring’ is not just my favourite game: it’s the game that saved my life and helped me overcome the darkest challenges of mental illness,” Cherry shares. “I’m not the same person as I was before ‘Elden Ring’ came out, this game has taught me so much about perseverance and inner strength. That’s why I felt utterly compelled to write an album about ‘Elden Ring’.”

As a preview, she’s shared a track called ‘Lord of Blood’. It’s about a character called Mogh, a horned demigod who embraces a blood-soaked cult. Every track on the record focuses on a different boss in ‘Elden Ring’. With a sound rooted in black metal and melodeath, it sees Noctule deliver an intense number, weaving harmonies throughout. Much like the album as a whole, Cherry plays every instrument.

“This song represents the joy and freedom of being in full control of the music you create, without having to make any compromises with bandmates or managers. I love creating music by myself and in ‘Lord of Blood’ I think that shows. This song is a celebration of pure musical independence, as well as an ode to the towering, horned demigod Mogh: Lord of Blood from ‘Elden Ring’. I’m proud that it doesn’t sound like anything else in the metal world right now. Honestly, Lord of Blood has one of my favorite guitar leads I’ve ever written. When it comes to making metal music, I just can’t resist adding layer upon layer of guitar harmonies.”

Burner Team Up with Sylosis’ Josh Middleton on ‘What Will You Give?’

Burner are preparing to release their new album, ‘No One Is Coming To Save Us’, on September 25th via Church Road Records. For its latest preview, they’ve roped in Josh Middleton of Sylosis on a track called ‘What Will You Give?’

Serving as a ferocious blend of black metal, death metal, and hardcore, the track is an intense offering that vocalist Harry Nott describes as “a rallying cry for democracy”. He expands by saying it is a “calling on the memory of the anti-fascists that struggled and died for freedom in the 20th century.”

“As we experience backsliding and more extreme leaders coming to power, I wanted to confront and warn the listener. What will YOU do when this society we take for granted collapses around us? When the signs are increasingly clear, it’s up to you and me to fight for a future that belongs to the people.”

As for Middleton’s cameo, it comes off the back of a 2024 tour with Sylosis, with Harry saying “it only made sense” to have Josh on the track. “He brought such a raw energy to the hardest hitting point of the song, and it feels like a perfect pairing. Absolutely smashed it.”

Burner will follow the release of ‘No One Is Coming To Save Us’ with a run of UK dates.

Sydney post-hardcore outfit Closure have unleashed their latest single, ‘Unravel’.
