Having relocated to the UK, Swedish rockers Tantrum To Blind have been a roll since settling on these shores and are currently on tour with Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Rat Attack. The female fronted four-piece blend electronic elements, soaring melodies and crushing melodies which has seen the band succeed in their homeland.
Now with a new EP in the works and touring relentlessly in the UK, expect to hear plenty more about Tantrum To Blind in the coming months.
Drummer Mike Cicero recently spoke to Already Heard for our regular “If I…” feature. Cicero told us about his love for Sum 41 and Rufio, headlining a festival in Vietnam and more.
If I could re-record one song it would be…
Mike Cicero: ‘Big City Silence’ from our debut album, the recording of this song included a lot of technical difficulties and there was no time for preparation.
If I could re-live one tour/show it would be…
Mike: When we headlined Tiger Translate Festival in Vietnam in Spring 2011. That was pretty surreal. We went from playing 250 cap. venues in Sweden to headlining a festival in Vietnam in front of 4000 people. A feeling I won’t forget.
If I had the chance to play one venue it would be…
Mike: There are probably many, but one would definitely be “Budokan” in Japan! Simply because it’s legendary and many of the live dvd’s I own are recorded from that venue.
If I could play with one band it would be…
Mike: My overall favourite band since I was 11 years old is Sum 41, If I could play with them my life would be complete… sort of.
If I could play with any person living or dead it would be…
Mike: That’s a tough one… there are a lot of drummers that would be cool to play with like Josh Freese, Mike Jimenez and Josh Eppard. A cool guitarist to jam with would be Tom Morello!
If I could bring back any band that have split up, it would be…
Mike: That must be my favorite skate band of all time – Rufio.
If I wasn’t playing music, I would be…
: A professional skateboarder, definitely. It used to be my big interest other than playing music anyway!
If I could play a different genre it would be…
Mike: R n’ B is great live. Would be nice to try sometime.
If I could have written any song it would be…
Mike: ‘Science Fiction’ by Rufio, simply one of the best skate songs ever written.
If I could have written any album it would be…
Mike: One of my favorite albums of all time is ‘Chuck’ by Sum 41. A big part of my youth right there, had I written any album this would be the one.
If I could headline any festival, it would be…
Mike: That would have to be Warped Tour, it’s any bands dream to get on this tour so that would be pretty rad!
If I could organise my own festival, the bands playing would be…
Mike: A few would be Sum 41, Coheed & Cambria, Incubus, Foo Fighters, Rage Against The Machine, Comeback Kid, Paramore, Billy Talent, Avril Lavigne… and to throw a couple of skate bands in there why not The Vandals, Lagwagon, This Is A Standoff and Bad Religion.
If I could play any other instrument, it would be…
Mike: When I was little I wanted to be a guitar hero, but that quickly changed as soon as I sat down behind a drumkit. If it hadn’t been for drums I’d definitely be pretending to be Slash right now
If I could give one piece of advice to a new band, it would be…
Mike: Just the usual I guess. Stick to your own natural flow, don’t set a limit to your creativity. If you adjust to trends you’ll eventually put yourself in a box.
