Video Premiere: 13 Crowes – Lady Luck

Scottish grafters 13 Crowes aren’t afraid to wear their heart and influences on their sleeve. The Annan-based group cite names such as Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Brian Fallon and poet Robert Burns as influences to their brand of Americana-tinged stories.

Having honed in of youth, heartache, love, loss and memories of years gone by on last year’s debut full-length, ‘Young Poets’, this week sees the quartet releasing a new single titled ‘Lady Luck’. However, ahead of its release on German independent label Homebound Records, we are premiering the video for the single.

“I wrote the lyrics for ‘Lady Luck’ late one night whilst listening to the Tom Waits song ‘Ol’ 55′. It’s one of those songs that seems even more cinematic and vibrant when you listen to it at night,” explains frontman and amateur boxer Cammy Black. “I was living on a little close tucked away from the main street in Annan between two busy pubs at the time. There are references in there to that and everything that was going on around me – all the aggro and chaos of a Saturday night. I was always in the thick of it, whether I liked it or not!”

In addition to releasing ‘Lady Luck’, 13 Crowes will add to their extensive touring experience by returning to Germany in the summer.
