Southampton metalcore mob Our Hollow Our Home have returned with a new line-up. It sees Gaz King (ex From Sorrow To Serenity, Nexilva) come in as their new vocalist. The other new members of the band are James Hackett (guitar), Matt Thomason (bass) and Kieran Tonks (drums).
The news coincides with the release of a track called ‘Downpour’. It showcases the quintet’s signature blend of metalcore angst and soaring melodies with hints of a potentially more expansive sound.
“I’m really proud to present our latest single, ‘Downpour’. This is the first release with the new line-up it heralds a new chapter and fresh sound for the band. For me, lyrically, ‘Downpour’ is about life’s shifting dynamics. It speaks not only to my own personal experience with the changes in the band, but I believe it can resonate with anybody. ‘Downpour’ is about overcoming your own fears and anxieties, staying true to yourself, and what is right for you as an individual,” guitarist/vocalist and primary songwriter Tobias Young commented.
“Given everything that has happened, and the amount of change within the band, it was super important for us to bring something new to the table as soon as we could. As soon as we wrote ‘Downpour’, we knew this was the song to return with straight away.”
Young also stated that ‘Downpour’ would be a stand-alone single and that Our Hollow Our Home have been working on a four full-length album.
“Musically I think this is the best the band has ever sounded. Collaborating with the insanely talented Sky Van Hoff (Rammstein/Sleep Token) has been a game-changer. He’s given our sound a modern twist while keeping our original vibe intact. which is something we wanted to set out to do from the start,” Tobias said. “I’m so excited for people to hear this new chapter of the band. I hope that those who have been with us for any length of time will still get behind us, and I’m looking forward to seeing some new faces along the way.”
